Re: PC to HDMI and Laptop Dock to HDMI Ports USB 2 x USB 2.0 2 x USB 3.0
Video Port 1 x VGA
HDMI *** 1 x HDMI
If that is your exact laptop model, it already has HDMI output for TV.
You can also use USB 3.0 to HDMI converters, but that will cost $50-$80 extra, and the driver will use up a lot of the CPU cycles.
DVI or DisplayPort to HDMI cables do exit, but VGA to HDMI requires a complicated device. Your laptop does not have DVI or Displayport, but it has a VGA port.
Look at the back of the TV, it may also have a VGA port ... my cheap LCD TV has both HDMI and VGA.

The reason I asked the above question is this... if your laptop has a dual mode DisplayPort as my Thinkpad X230 has, all you need is the readily available passive cable adapter, to have both laptop audio and video on your HDMI display or HDTV..
quote from Wikipedia article on the subject.......
"Dual-Mode DisplayPorts are designed to transmit a single-link DVI or HDMI 1.2/1.4 protocol across the interface through the use of an external passive adapter that selects the desired signal and converts the electrical signaling from LVDS to TMDS....." I use the StarTech passive adapter below to do the job with my X230... for full 1920x1080 HDMI video and audio to my Sony Bravia HDTV.

The specs show a VGA port, you should be able to use a VGA to HDMI cable. |

USB X indicates the standard compliance.. USB 1 was the first generation, USB2 second generation (much faster) and now the newest standard is USB3 (Much faster still, and I think capable of delivering more than 500mA current, but I may be wrong)
Typically, USB3 ports are differentiated on a computer by being blue. Any USB device should be able to be used in any usb port, but the overall transfer rate will be determined by the slowest port. So, if you plug a USB3 device into a USB2 port on a computer, you're still only going to get USB2 speeds. -- When cryptography is outlawed, bayl bhgynjf jvyy unir cevinpl. |

Not sure what USB2 is? |

Sure does. It's either a blue pinned cable connector. |

Does the laptop have USB3? Dell resells a decent USB3 to HDMI adapter.
There are also USB2 to HDMI adapters, but they have issues because of bandwidth and protocol limitations. Check ones which support 720p at 60Hz. Connect directly to laptop port, not to a hub! |

Does you laptop have a display port? |

 | My dell desktop has an HDMI port and is connected to my 32 inch flat screen via HDMI. I have a wireless mouse and keyboard. What I want: I want to be able to dock my work laptop and use the same TV monitor, wireless keyboard and mouse. Note: The laptop does not have an HDMI port.
