1 recommendation | Rogers Community Forums: An Experienced Opinion Advertised as a "A place to discuss questions related to Rogers products and services and to become a continuously positive and growing place where you can candidly discuss your technical issues, and a home to express your ideas, comments, questions and concerns." Sadly this tightly controlled Rogers playground is anything but.
"If any of your posts require editing or deletion by us in the following month, your account will be suspended."- Community Forum Mod
THE ABOVE statement is the ruling site mentality that drives Rogers Community forums. Deftly enforced by moderators with WARNINGS sent via the Private Community Mailer, their actions resemble school yard bullies claiming a litany of nonsensical perceived offenses against the Community Guideline principals.
Opinion suppression, irrational moderation and an overwhelming, almost psychotic desire to hide publicly available truths about Rogers hardware and services. These are the hallmarks of Rogers Community Forums.
Any redeeming qualities the site may have intended in it's peer to peer format has been quickly extinguished by the sheer volume of moderation. Factual posts are quickly reduced to nonsensical jibberish through needless staff editing while Technical expertise is almost non existent. Many posts relying heavily on Rogers tried and true credo "Take it back to your local Rogers store and exchange it."
One can only assume that past members with REAL Technical knowledge were long ago sent packing for revealing Rogers well known hardware and service flaws.
"Again, I urge you to review the community guidelines - Rogers Forum Mod"
Words to live by in Rogers Forums if you want to survive the asylum mentality there. Who these lofty ideals apply to is anyone's guess. Certainly not Rogers Social Media Team. And how they're applied depends on the Rogers mood of the day.
Rogers Forum 'Wonderland'. Where Rogers rules the 'fastest and most reliable' universe or so they'd have us believe.
For those of us that live in the REAL WORLD well, you be the judge..........
Another factual assessment of ALL things Rogers. |

Hooter join:2009-08-17 Scarborough, ON 1 edit | It has taken me awhile but I too have concluded that any attempt to express an opinion in The Rogers Community Forums is a total waste of my time and effort. I was recently handed a 30-day suspension. "In order to have the account reinstated, you must respond via email that you will not violate the community guidelines and terms of use again." Community Forum Manager
My reply to the manager: "I no longer desire to have anything to do with The Rogers Community Forums. It is not worth the aggravation and hassle of having everything you say moderated by someone and having someone delete your comments under the guise that they are violating your precious guidelines!" As such, I have now been banned permanently!
What they really want over there are people with some technical experience who will offer free advice to customers with problems, because Lord knows, there is no one from Rogers offering any kind of technical advice whatsoever. The people from Rogers are simply too busy editing and deleting comments to ever be concerned with the customers' issues! As for people who express their opinions as to Rogers service or Rogers equipment, they have no value over there at all. The people of real value on the Rogers Community Forums are the Rogers apologists; those that go the extra mile to defend Rogers. If you are not one of these, forget about it as you are just wasting your time! |

Hmmm
As much as I appreciate DSL Reports sometimes it takes a dedicated site ie Rogers, Bell, Telus, where clients can talk openly.
A name like RogersOpen or RogersUncencored etc.
DSL Reports has too many forums on too many subjects and that intimidates some people who only want to join to discuss Rogers. I signed up for just that reason and I could care less about the other forums.
Maybe having a secondary Rogers domain to drive traffic to this part of DSL would be the answer. This way more people would know there is an open place to talk about rogers. |

1 recommendation | I don't see why you have such a fear of DSLR ... Until interested in some of the other forums, I put the Rogers forum only in my favourites and bookmarked the favourites page "http://www.dslreports.com/forums/fav"
Now that way I see ONLY the Rogers page.
I now have a collection of mostly Canadian forums in favourites.
If you've read all the posts in favourites, you can hit the red envelope on the listing, then that and all posts earlier than that one will become marked as read ... and hey presto, reading the forum becomes a piece of cake. A couple more clicks and you can get to the Rogers forum index page and you can start your own thread without ever knowing that there are some amazing number of forums on the site. |

The problem is though, as elitefx has so eloquently pointed out, is that the so-called dedicated site (Rogers) does not allow you to talk openly! Talking openly only gets your comment edited, deleted or the user suspended or banned! |
