Ok, I know y'all pissed with Rogers but who unplugged their cellular voice network? Even www.rogers.com is down!

Lol.

Rogers got tired of hearing TPIA people complain. So they just pulled the plug. "Take that!!"

DNS injection?

rogers.com is pointing to Allstream...that doesn't seem right.

This is probably not it, but there was a solar flare earlier. Not sure if it's likley to be the cause however.

For some reason rogers.com has been hosted on Allstream for at least 11 years since I first started on Rogers.

Prolly a bunch of hackers on 3rd party providers getting ALL of our frustrations out on Rogers criminal practices. Look at the map, it's starts in Ottawa. LOL!!!!

Rogers' voice network is down in Montreal too. Just tried six calls to my mother a few blocks away (we're both on Fido), five of them gave "call failed", one went direct to voicemail. Data working fine.

Allstream provides lots of back end services for Rogers since the days when Allstream was called AT&T Canada.

Data seems to be fine for me on my cell in Scarborough. I haven't tried voice though. My friends Rogers Internet over on McNicol POI are fine too.

Data works here, but when I want to dial anything my iPhone5 goes nuts, switching between 3G/LTE rapidly and i dont even get any sort of signal not even the fast busy. just goes call failed after a minute or so.

Cant believe there is no redundancy at all.

Come on now, did you expect anything different? They don't do much redundancy even for business customers such as TekSavvy.

Well, I'd expect them to do it for wireless, its their bread and butter....

Well remember their average customer doesn't care about an outage once and a while so Rogers tends to over-toast them frequently. Don't matter what the bread is.

True but social feeds tend to be a small portion of the customer base. This is also not the first 'national outage'..

They most certainly have redundancy.
Having it doesn't mean it always behaves the way you expect it to though.

hahah. Yeah if that were true, a fibre cut wouldn't kill cable and/or wireless services everytime. Yet when it happens, there is *always* an outage. Yes there is technically a redundant path but it tends to be at the last mile of the customer premise. The Rogers core network *does not* utilize redundancy due to the fact that cable tv, wireless and internet networks all ride on the same fibre pipes.

I think they were hacked by Palestine!

Inside joke if you heard about Palestine hackers hacking AVG and taking down their site along with another company associated to AVG.

Here's the news of the AVG hack the other day..

Will be interesting to see(if they let us) what caused the downtime.

Oh well, with all the backdoors that jr's NSA put in to Global communications, someone probably found Rogers cellular off switch.
