Re: Distributel congestionIt's obviously some sort of throttling. If it weren't it wouldn't be happening consistently at the same time every single night. Like I said previously, if this isn't fixed soon, within this week, I will be switching isp's. |

I'm having the exact same issue with Primus. At my mothers house in Markham I ping at 20-30 ms on a Chicago game server with Bell which is the same as I do here in Scarborough with Primus until around 6-7 pm where my ping reaches anywhere from 120-280 ms till around 11 pm. |

Yup, Distributel Cable, 25 down 2 up, no router, hardwired direct to my NIC on the mobo on my desktop pc. Only the 1 desktop pc in the house.
Having the same congestion again tonight, logged into Marvel Heroes 2015 & noticed it right away again.
Sigh :\ So frustrating. |

Speed tests and Ping tests always come up fine but I get 200-300 ping in games. I also can't watch twitch tv streams on high quality during those hours or they lag. |

I'm happy to report that the congestion issue has been identified and resolved. Consequently, you should no longer have any latency or ping problems going forward. Thank you for your patience

I just came out of an online game where my ping spiked to 990 more than a few times. I wasn't able to stream live video starting from around 8:00 pm again either. |

That looks like local node congestion which is not the type we were seeing earlier. |

There was a short outage on the date you reported the problem. Can you please confirm if you are still having issues please? |

No problem at all on the Québec side. On Acanac cable here and pings/download speed are normal. |

said by olddtel:There was a short outage on the date you reported the problem. Can you please confirm if you are still having issues please? Yes. I have been having these issues every night so far for the past month or so (including the past week since the supposed fix). Live video streaming and online gaming are impossible during these times (usually around 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm). I am located at York Mills and DVP. |

I am seeing latency issues in online gaming between 7 and 11 PM EST every night. I am in Barrie, ON.
Outside of this time my latency to the server is 32ms. During this peak time the latency fluctuates between 32ms and 1000ms+.
On the weekends I notice it earlier on in the day too. |

I just made the switch to FTTN (still with Distributel). Hopefully that will fix the issues. |

Yeah this seems like it's back. I haven't really been on during the peak times as much as before. But right now it's acting the same way again... |

This is very atypical of Distributel, They'll go for months with slowdowns, and eventually it will clear itself up.
I have to say that the last couple of years (and that prior to Sept 2013) it was very stable, but man did I go through some rough patches. They were cheap compared to Teksavvy or even Acanac(who had their own issues) , so I stuck it out. |

Does this fix the problem, I will make the switch if it means I will no longer have latency issues in the evenings. This latest fix by Distributel did nothing for me, and my evening slowdowns continue. Basically, no live streaming and no online gaming. This started probably around 5 months ago for me, before that I never had a problem with Distributel. However, this isn't just a Distributel problem. People across multiple ISPs have the exact same problem. |

Some customers have been reporting latency issues when using certain online games with our cable internet service during peak-hours. We have reached out to the highest level within our Network Operations department and have been continuously working to improve the experience of our gaming customers. While the issue has been confirmed to be beyond our network and direct control, we have reached out to external sources such as the gaming providers and other local service providers in a collaborative effort to isolate the cause of the issue and find a solution. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. |

same generic response, how come when people switch from Distributel to Teksavvy the issue goes away? hmmmmmm |

As of Oct 7th, Acanac's website states: (they use the same networks as Distributel)

I will let you know how it goes. In theory, congestion should not be possible on FTTN. |
