Kudos to FairPoint for responsiveness
I've been having intermittent connectivity issues with my FairPoint "FAST" fiber connection over the past month; at times a tracert can't get past my local router to the CO, and within a few minutes things are back to normal. I called the repair service folks early one morning this week to report the issue, and a FairPoint tech was at my house within four hours to address the problem. The tech checked the light levels, etc., going to the ONT and didn't see any issues, so he decided to replace the ONT "just in case". He also left a replacement router in case the original ONT wasn't the cause. So far things are looking good.
Good job, FairPoint. Troubleshooting intermittent issues can be a pain, and I was pleased that the tech took the initiative to replace "possibly" defective equipment in an effort to resolve the problem.
