[Wired] RVS4000 Static routing help

Hi Everyone,
I am having a problem with setting up a static routing in my network.
This is my exact setup:

Cable Internet Modem(192.168.100.1 LAN address)>RVS4000 (in Gateway mode, WAN is set to DHCP and has WAN IP address assigned by cable modem) then it goes to switch as well as wireless router (Dlink DIR-685).
RVS4000 LAN ip is 192.168.0.1 and acts as a DHCP server in a range of 192.168.0.100-150.
Dir-685 is on 192.168.1.1 and acts as a DHCP server in a range of 192.168.1.100-150. (DIR-685's LAN address from RVS4000 is 192.168.0.2)
These two as you could see are on different networks, as one of the RVS-4000 LAN cables is connected to DIR-685 WAN port).
The reason I am putting them on different networks is, that DIR-685 is losing wireless encryption under heavy load, so my wireless network becomes accessible by anyone. So I am planning to hide SSID and allow only selected MAC addresses within my wireless network. This is basically the only solution to this problem at this moment.

I am trying to interconnnect 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.1.1 networks to each other.
I have been looking at various forums but still could not get this working.

I am able to ping RVS4000 network from wireless devices connected to DIR-685, but they are not showing up in the network neighborhood. I can access devices by IP but not by their host name (from 192.168.1.1 devices to 192.168.0.1).

I am not able to access anything from RVS4000 etwork to DIR-685 network, neither ping them.

Tried to setup static routes in both RVS4000 and DIR-685, but does not seem to work.
This is what I am writing in RVS4000 Static routing fields:
Destination IP Address: 192.168.1.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway IP address: 192.168.0.2

And this is how DIR-685 Static Routing fields look like:
Interface: WAN Physical Interface
Destination: 192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1

This does not seem to work (although internet works both within RVS4000 and DIR-685 networks) but the networks do not see each other. As said, computers on DIR-685 network ping all IP addresses within RVS4000 network, but not vice-versa.

Apparently this should be easy and I am doing something wrong.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Any NAT router protects the inner network from the outer network. So long as both are acting as routers, you have that issue.

Here is the longer version of that.
»arstechnica.com/civis/vi ··· p1605298

it includes a short 'demote your wireless router to the Access point you should have bought' paragraph

Here is the much more thorough version.

Thanks for links and lessons... but my question was different...

I can not use DIR-685 in access point mode because it loses wireless encryption under heavy load (common problem with this router.
So my solution was to hide SSID, enable MAC access list and remove encryption, but in order to do that, the network cable (in my case from router - RVS4000) has to b plugged in DIR-685 WAN port.
so, my question is, how would I interconnect two networks (within same LAN), so that they communicate with each other?
Static routing is something I have not done before. I played with it but does not seem to help, anything else that can be done?

I am amazed that not acting as a router does not lower CPU utilization. However, page 58 is your best hope. »wiki.framealbum.com/imag ··· l_US.pdf

»www.cisco.com/en/US/docs ··· 2605.pdf
page 42 has all the options that if your DIR-685 had them there would be hope in your scheme.

I hold no hope you can defeat NAT in the DIR-685, but best of luck.

Thanks for info.
I tried putting RVS4000 in Router mode, but then internet switches off...
I also tried Static routes both in DIR-685 and RVS4000 (pointing to each other) but still not luck...
I guess I have to buy another wireless router.

Why buy the wrong device again? Get a wireless access point.

If the DR-685 had a router mode, THAT would have helped. Reading it's manual did not find one.

That's what I meant, AP instead of router...
DIR-685 was good, but only for a year... will still use it as wired NAS though
