As I have been posting here, there ARE other choices and I have been testing some since May.

Some show promise.

My more recent observations begin at post #31 (as in the below link).

The earlier article was the wrong one.

This is the correct article :

Here is a compilation of workarounds :

(Unfortunately, these do not restore CLASSIC mode, but do roll things back to before the October Debacle.)

This is a REVISED (to include Jen's method) composite REPOST, with my clarification edits :

FIVE WAYS TO BRING THE OLDER (JULY 2013) YAHOO MAIL INTERFACE VERSION BACK, INCLUDING TABS :

Judy Byrnes commented - October 14, 2013 11:32 pm

-----
WORKAROUND #1 :
Open and log in to Yahoo Mail (the Newest FULL version)

Click the Cogwheel/Gear icon near the top right of the screen
Click on 'Settings' when the menu pops down
Click on 'Viewing eMail'
Click on 'Basic'
Click on 'Save'

[This takes you back to Basic mode for a moment]

Click the 'Back' button in your browser, and you should now be returned to the recent version of Yahoo Mail with the TABS, etc.

-----
WORKAROUND #2 :
Open and log in to Yahoo Mail (the Newest FULL version)

In the address bar, locate the word 'launch'.
Delete 'launch' and change only that word into 'search', preserving the rest of whatever is there
Hit GO or Enter, and you should now be returned to the recent version of Yahoo Mail with the TABS, etc.
Click on the Tab for your Inbox

-----
WORKAROUND #3 :
Open and log in to Yahoo Mail (the Newest FULL version)

Copy the current URL and save it somewhere

Click the Cogwheel/Gear icon near the top right of the screen
Click on 'Settings' when the menu pops down
Click on 'Viewing eMail'
Click on 'Basic'
Click on 'Save'

[This takes you back to Basic mode for a moment]

Now paste the URL you copied earlier back into your address line to replace whatever is there now
Hit GO or Enter, and you should now be returned to the recent version of Yahoo Mail with the TABS, etc.
(You may need to paste the URL into a new browser tab or window, depending on your browser)

NOTE : Each of the above fixes will ONLY WORK FOR ONE SESSION, and must be repeated each time that you log into Yahoo WebMail !

-----
WORKAROUND #4 :
Anonymous commented · October 15, 2013 12:05 am ·

ONLY for the Internet Explorer browser :

Put the Yahoo WebMail page into 'Compatibility View', and that will give you the the recent version of Yahoo Mail with the TABS, etc.
You do this by clicking the little page looking icon in the search bar, that is located between the magnifying glass and the refresh icon.
(or search for compatibility view in IE)

-----
WORKAROUND #5 :
jen commented · October 17, 2013 7:23 pm
Open and log in to Yahoo Mail (the Newest FULL version)
Do this again for a 2nd tab

In only ONE of the tabs :
Click the Cogwheel/Gear icon near the top right of the screen
Click on 'Settings' when the menu pops down
Click on 'Viewing eMail'
Click on 'Basic'
Click on 'Save'

[This takes you back to Basic mode for a moment]

In the OTHER tab, hit Refresh or F5, and you should now be returned to the recent version of Yahoo Mail with the TABS, etc.
Use THAT tab and ignore the first one.

NOTE : Method #5 will ONLY WORK FOR ONE SESSION, and must be repeated each time that you log into Yahoo WebMail !

-----
This concludes the FIVE YAHOO MAIL FIXES tutorial.

Please notify me if there are any errors or omissions in this post and I will fix and repost.

Cheers !

Are you trying to tell me that cnn.com is a satire site, or that thedailymash.uk is not a satire site?

LOL, it's sometimes hard to find out where the parody is.

It all makes me wonder whether Yahoo is caught up in an April Fools version of the movie Groundhog Day !

Or they COULD be parodying themselves.

No, wait, THAT could be dangerous to their stock share price !
