Not the way the appear if you are using a TV with qam or qam adapter.

You get mostly locals (ususally at they broadcast digital channel number). Lots of AD INSERT CHANNELS (just ads nothing but ads), community channels, weather channel, and an EAS Details Channel.

Subchannels are subchannels for example 8.2 and 10.2 with 8.1 and 10.1 usually being the primary.

Correct - the channels that thetick mentioned will all be there, but mapped very differently than what you see in Verizon's guide. They would map to the PSIP location (e.g. instead of channel 506, in Philly, you would get 6.1). Same with the digital subchannels. Presumably the OP knows all this already anyway, since he's relying on clear QAM with Comcast today. The mapping would (assuming everything is mapped correctly) would be the same for him if he were to switch to FiOS (meaning that, even though the frequency on which the channels are carried may be different between Comcast and Verizon, what he'll 'see' on his QAM tuner should be the same).

Yes true, but they are just HD feeds of the SD locals, not additional programming. I probably should have stated .. "and corresponding available HD locals".

Yes also true. I never implied the qam channels will be mapped to 1,2 or those were the ONLY channels. As you mentioned there are all the local ads.
