Tecsavvy, Techsavvy, Taksavvy...

It's TEKSAVVY people!

It starts with T-E-K!

Not T-E-C, not T-E-C-H, and definitely not T-A-K!

And that's two "V"s in the second half of the company name! That ain't a "W"!

If you're gonna rant about bad or no service, at the very least you should know how to spell the name of the company you're dealing with!

And while you're at it, it wouldn't hurt to add to your post "simple" writing concepts such as sentence structure, proper punctuation, and PARAGRAPHS!!!

A spell checker would help too!

Rant over. Thank you for your attention.

Hi Marc,

My cable internet in Richmond Hill is having trouble again. Modem has online light on, however DNS time out. Similar to the issue I've had before.

Are you guys aware of that?

Re: Tecsavvy, Techsavvy, Taksavvy...

I think most could excuse the Capital S. I have to agree, I see TECH, TAK, TEC a lot. There is really no excuse for it when it's all over this forum page even while you type. It's in direct view spelled correctly. I'm also growing very tired of the "ENGLISH AS A 2ND LANGUAGE" excuse. There hits a point, on some things that this just isn't an excuse as much as being lazy or unwilling to learn.

I'm waiting for a Quebecer to call it TabernakSavvy

But, personally, I don't think it's typo's. It's pissed off people misspelling the name on purpose out of spite, anger, frustration, hate, or whatever.

You don't see many good posts with the name typo's.

Exactly. Repeated misspellings is mostly out of anger I'd say.

Where did you get the idea that mistakes are made due to "English as 2ed language" as you stated? And how did you get the idea that these people are lazy to learn as you indicated?

To be honest, the English here is nowhere near as bad as the French posts in the Vidéotron forum, or the French comments on »radio-canada.ca ! If you want definite proof that Quebec education is a miserable failure, you'll find it in those places!

They're not even angry!

And don't forget, end every paragraph with an exclamation mark. In the extremely rare situation that your paragraph contains two sentences, end each with an exclamation mark. People take you more seriously that way.

I agree.

There are a LOT of p-od customers out there (me included) after Adobe changed their software to the rental model (pay every month forever) and then allowed 3 million customer credit cards and personal info to be stolen. So now, "Creative Cloud" is also referred to as ca$h cOW, creative clown...

I wonder if we could develop the "TekSavvy customer satisfaction index" based on the ratio of misspelled posts?

Does this happen in other forums? How often is it spelled "Bhell", etc in their forum?

Sweet. Nice self-referential example there, in one short word!

Is the difference between a plural and possessive form of a noun no longer taught? Where did the world conclude that a superscripted comma belongs before every word with a final 's' in it?

I personally don't agree with people using misspelling as a way expressing their anger. In fact, people can simply explain the source of dissatisfaction and I am sure the targeted audience are intelligent enough to grasp the nature of complaint(s).

However, there are many of us who do not master English due to many reasons. We have to be more sympathetic toward these people. Many ordinary people don't have English major or in fact know the English language well, myself included. And if we need to be here to express our concern, it is OK to make a mistake. It is not because we are lazy, or don't want to learn the language. Many of us struggle in our daily life, maybe don't get the chance to enhance our knowledge as we wish.

I did not mean by any means that you are being negatively critical of others because of their shortcomings.

Yeeep. Bhell, bhelus, Robbers, Gougeco, Videotorn, etc etc.

And as TabernakSavvy (;)) even wrote in their CRTC filing, their image is being harmed. This can now be seen visually by all with purposeful/calculated spelling. CNOC/TSI didn't include that statement in their filing for nothing. Rogers actually harmed their brand. For what it's worth...

On these forums (especially DSLr), and most all forums, this type of discontent is very obvious. Especially when included with a rant.

Forum psychology of angry users 101 They are letting it out.

All this threads topic made me think of was George Laraque running around the TekSavvy studios/offices screaming the company name waiving his shoulders around!

It bothers you that much? Honestly? Who cares!! This isn't school, so if someone spells something wrong, or writes weird, who cares? There has only been one person in a thread as of late I've seen who wrote Techsavvy. Doesn't matter IMHO. I'm commenting on your post because I very much dislike the spelling/grammar police on forums. (not hate you personally) The only thing i'll fully agree on is paragraphs. That is only because it's so much ezier 2 read yo :P

More important things to worry about. I for one won't be getting irritated because Marc forgot a ',' in his first response to you.

My 2 cents.

Bear in mind that even the CORRECT spelling of Teksavvy will be rejected by all spell checkers, as it is not in their default dictionary.

e.g. The DSLR one says 'error'.

Good thing there's no 'L' nor 'R' in it.

You should care.

It could mean the difference between getting the job, and being escorted out of the building by security.

What are you talking about? It is not a job application form, it is DSLR report has to do with people having connection issues or other concerns. It is silly asking people to have perfect English in order to come here and express their concerns. So, what if I miss some punctuations or have some spelling errors?

Potential employers WILL investigate your on-line history. If you behave like an illiterate ass online, chances are you'll also behave like an illiterate ass in real life. Employers don't like that.

However, if the employer finds out that you're an excellent communicator online, regardless of the stated opinion, that ability to communicate effectively becomes a very important asset for the company.

And you thought you had to worry about the government spying on you!
