I was a bit stunned when they announced it was free... But I guess that was sort of the trend... Lion $19.99, ML, $9.99, Mavericks $0 hehe...
If they keep this up for future releases, Microsoft will have to think a little bit more... |

Wasn't Lion $29.99, ML $19.99, Mavericks Free? |

If they keep this up for future releases, Microsoft will have to think a little bit more... I seriously doubt anyone will switch operating systems to save $10 or $20 on upgrades. As it is, the differential of the purchase price of comparable computers is far greater than these trivial sums. |

What's nice to see is that the specs are low enough to be able to be installed on a 2007 MacBook Pro. I have an 09 and didn't even think I would be able to consider installing it. |

What is good is that Cook seems to indicate that Mac OS and its computers are still a defined segment. Yes, OS X has borrowed iOS features but that they aren't willing to give up on the PC market. OS X, in my opinion has always been better than Windows 7 and 8 but getting Mavericks on a Mac is icing on the cake. |

Actually with the introduction of Lion it was $19.99. ML was also $19.99 but when they released it, Apple also dropped the price of SL to $19.99 (min OS required to be able download and install the others). SL was originally 129.99. |

Will it automatically try to install once it is downloaded? Can I just download it to keep? |
