Ford Ranger Brakes

Dropped of my truck to get a quote for brake service, and I was told that it was $767 for new rotors, pads, shoes, repack bearings, and grease. Doesn't that sound awfully high?

If it's from the dealer and includes tax, then it's a little high but about on track for what they would charge.

Based on my past brake jobs on the Ranger, I'd say ballpark to have someone else do both axles is around $500 to $700 including tax.

is that Ranger 4 wheel drive?

sounds about right for that, and the 4 wheel drive hubs are more labor and the rotors are more expensive (at least the ones on my 95 Ranger 4X4 are)

Even 4 wheel drive the hubs only add like ten minutes to the job. Its high, how high depends on where they are getting the parts from and whats all getting replaced. Shouldnt be more than about 200 or so for parts wholesale.

If its not a dealer, offer 500 or take it somewhere else. 300 should be more than enough profit for them on a 4 wheel brake job and packing bearings which in my opinion should be included anyway.
