My (non-heating) rate recently fell from $0.18 to $0.13 I guess that's mostly caused by the big fall in natural gas used for generation. The residential heating customer gets about $0.02 discount.

I average $0.18/kWh between peak and off-peak, with the peak rate being some $0.15/kWh higher than off-peak and about 25% of my usage being peak.

In DC for all-electric customers it's $0.1060357 for the first 400 kWh, then it goes up to $0.1135657 for the balance.

Southern Indiana on Duke Energy and my peak rate is .09 with off peak .05 and late night .04.

Glad it's not as high as some others but would love to have your .02 rate. I heat with a heat pump and emergency heat strips if needed. New house and last month I didn't run the AC or heat but for 3-4 days and my bill was $120.00 for a 1300sqft single story house.

I pay .1515 per kilowatt. That's the total bill, fees and all. They just sent a notice we should see a decrease within the next couple of months.

In Ohio you can get the actual electric (Generation/transmission) from different suppliers now. That was changed a couple of years ago. So currently I am locked in now with FirstEnergy for $0.0599/KWH. Then DP&L is my local power company. With all those fees it comes out to about $0.11 a KWH. That has helped on the bill when they allowed you to choose because between 2008 and about 2010 our rates had went up by %30 in that time.

Farm, home and small biz three-phase service through single POCO meter.

Demand charge $6.85/Kw
Energy charge $0.049/Kwh all usage
Fuel Surcharge -$0.0043/Kwh all usage

The surcharge adjusts quarterly. The above include all charges except MN sales/use tax.

Here is the price of gas. I use 2000 KWH of power a month for heat. Gas company was 3 grand to install new service. Then I would need a new furnace.. They have to bore under the highway that's why there is a high cost. would u do it if u had cheap electric rates.

For electric there's a $6.64/month charge just to be connected, then the rate is $0.09841/kWh, so $99.39 for 1010 kWh, + 1% franchise fee ($1.06) $107.09TTL

FWIW I am also on OGE here in Central Oklahoma. I do have natural gas for heat but the furnance blower is obviously driven by electricity. I have been very happy with the OGE SmartHours program here. It has saved us money this summer...

Good grief. This again? Like just about any other muni utility, LA-DWP is run by a Board of Commissioners. The union employees' wages are negotiated in good faith by the Board of Commissioners. The Board of Commissioners is appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the council. The mayor and council are elected by... wait for it... YOU.

I'm in a suburb of New York City. ConEd territory. When you include all the BS fees, taxes, etc., my electric rate is $0.25/KWh. Probably around the highest in the US. Sure makes it easy to justify replacing incandecents with LED bulbs, though...

Denton Municipal Electric (City run)
$0.057 per kWh first 600 kWh
$0.0379 per kWh after first 600
$8.25 facility charge.
No contracts or min/max usage

DME has some of the lowest rates in the state of Texas and this is for the renewable energy plan. Many areas in Texas, including Dallas, Fort Worth, Waco and Houston are de-regulated and allow you to pick from about 100 different companies. City run and co-ops are exempt from deregulation and usually cheaper.

It saved me about $40 a month I am pleased with it like you are. Not a lot of people know that OGE serves Arkansas as well as Oklahoma.

$0.13/kwh here in Florida.

We're paying Progress Energy for a nuclear power plant that will never be built, the rate used to be $0.06, but since 2004 they have had an excuse to raise it 10-15% each year, we're paying for their mistakes and keeping their investors happy. Apparently Duke energy bought them out and fired all the Progress Energy executives, but I'm still not sure they're any better of a company.

I've been designing a solar system that I plan on installing myself. I need a 3kW array to break even, but just to start out I'm going to be doing a 1.5kW array. I have someone who can get me a few grade B panels 250 watt mono crystalline panels for $250 each, so I'm going to jump on that deal. I don't plan on doing grid-tie at all, I will use a battery bank and only switch off of that when the usage is too much for it to handle or it becomes low. Havent really settled on what inverter I'm going to use yet. Screw these greedy power companies.

LADWP has cheap electricity compared to SCE for people who live in larger homes. Your grandpa's bills are don't tell the whole story if we can't see them, especially since they include water (and DWP's water is not cheap).

My mom's DWP bills were about 600 for two months in the summer, but she ran her 4 ton AC at 68 degrees in a nearly uninsulated 1500 sqft house, and she had a pool. Her KWH usage was something in the 2800 range. If I used that much electricity my bill would probably exceed my mortgage payment.

It sounds like your siblings are the lucky folk who don't use that much electricity.

Just got my bill today. I have dual-zone heat pumps. Here is the breakdown:

Customer Charge : $18 (fixed monthly charge)
Energy: 3212 KWH X $0.05769 = $185.30 (distribution charge)
Fuel Adjustment: 3212 kWH x $0.04429 = $142.26 (fuel surcharge)
Tax: $8.86
Total: $354.42
