Found this yesterday. Should be on TNT next summer. Basically here is the description from the TNT website:
quote:Their mission is simple: Find a cure. Stop the virus. Save the world.
When a global pandemic wipes out eighty percent of the planet's population, the crew of a lone naval destroyer must find a way to pull humanity from the brink of extinction
Looks good. Makes me think of a cross between Crusade (like you said) and Last Resort (they're on a "boat"). Plus, Rhona Mitra. And I hope Adam Baldwin's character is at least a little like Jayne.

Which explains why Mitra's character got killed off in Strikeback, she had a better offer

Michael Bay presents The Last Ship, starring Eric Dane, Rhona Mitra and Adam Baldwin. Coming to TNT in 2014.
However, I don't know that I can totally agree with that assessment.
The production quality of the trailer for The Last Ship seems higher. For example, the helicopters looked real whereas in Helix they were typically CGI. A lot of the scenes that were supposedly outside in Helix were either CGI or studio work. The cast of the Last Ship looks a bit better seasoned / well known.
Also the virus or infection seems to cull the population in The Last Ship rather then result in zombies or vectors.
Still I think I see the similarities you are referring too.
I, uhh, liked it. I just hope it doesn't become another Last Resort where the captain thinks he's the almighty, and uses his war ship as bargain tool to get his way.
So far so good. It moved pretty fast, not sure that they'll keep up that pace (or that I would want them to) -- the upcoming scenes looked pretty action packed at least...
Terrific pilot! Wasn't going to watch it, but the extended preview at the end of the race did it's job and got me to tune it. It seemed like the show was over in 10 minutes, very fast paced. looking forward to see how the characters develop.
I liked it, but some of the battle scenes looked a bit hokey. I like the cast, the premise, the BSG vibe they had going, and the fact that they have an actual Destroyer to film on, but when the Nathan James started taking missiles without any visible signs of damage I couldn't help but laugh. I don't think this show needs explosions to be a very good TV drama.
I think they put their best foot forward on this one. It was a really good start and you could see that they put some money / effort into this with the stunts, pyrotechnics and real outdoor scenes / ship. The cast is really good too, although, you just know anything that Rhona Mitra is in is worth watching.
And the Rhona Mitra effect is that any shortcomings of the show can be forgiven because Rhona Mitra is in it,...
To address the "Helix" comparison with the "Last Ship" earlier in the thread,......
