Re: Los Angeles 50mb Ultimate to 100mb Ultimate tier upgrade: Nov 25

A friend who lives in West Hollywood 90046 got the 100/5 plan upgrade. He bought a new Surfboard 6141, and when he went to return his modem in person they set up his new account for him.

Sam here.. I upgraded to Ultimate 50 ($64.99 promo rate) from Extreme on the phone after being told that Ultimate 100 would cost $20 more..

When I did the speed test, I couldn't believe my eyes that I was getting 100 speed!

My account also still says Ultimate 50.

Are you paying full price for Ultimate? Discounted plans are staying on Ultimate 50.

Not sure what's going on right now, but I had to move my modem and these were the speeds when I powered it back on.

Each test is from a different Los Angeles host

I'm currently paying the promo price for the Ultimate 50 speed. $64.99

Did Ultimate 50 users paying the promo price get bumped to 75?

Taken just now:

I didn't upgrade to Ultimate 50 till Aug 2013 so I should still be on promo pricing, and shouldn't be getting 100Mbps.

Anyone else?

I suspect it's a mistake (based on reports that people have 100mbps but show 50mbps in their account - my account showed 100mbps from the moment it was upgraded), but enjoy!

I don't think it is a mistake maybe TWC's plans on going 16 down 4 up bonding may have something to do with customers getting 100/5 lol I have a feeling TWC probably only offered it to the full price customers to see if they could handle the load on the network and then once it was shown to work they gave all 50/5 subscribers 100/5 free?

Then why bother having different "Ultimate 50" and "Ultimate 100" account codes?

You may be onto something with load testing though. Maybe they want to see the impact on the network.

My modem rebooted just now, and I am getting the 100mb speeds. I am paying the promotional pricing for the 50mb Ultimate.

So I guess everyone is finally getting the new speeds.

Me too! I switched to 50/5 at the intro rate $65/month in December and was getting a pretty consistent 56/5.7 on the speedtest. Just took another one today and got this (located in Santa Clarita):

I think the 50/5 codes are staying because they are planning on making 50/5 the standard tier which probably is going to come with upstream bonding and more downstream channels right now some areas still only have 4 downstreams with plans to expand it to 8 or more.

anyone know if I have to be using wireless a/c in order to get 100mb wirelessly?

If i connect my laptop directly to my router, I can reach the 100mb easy.. But wirelessly, I max out at 65mb through my 2.4ghz 802.11n router. Will I need to upgrade to the ac routers to get 100mb wirelessly?

If you are using 2.4Ghz, it's not going to reach 100mbits.... Maybe for 5Ghz. Well sure if you want to upgrade to an wireless a/c wrouter, it will handle 100mbits, but remember, your laptop's wireless card have to support wireless a/c as well to support wireless a/c to get those speeds.

you will need to have at least an N wireless router with an 5Ghz frequency support to get those speed. you don't need an ac router. Also your wireless card or adapter have to support 5ghz frequency.

I am currently paying the promo Ultimate 50 price (64.99). My speed has increased to 75Mbps (odd # compared to others) this week or so. I am not exactly sure when it changed.

Just did a few tests tonight and couldn't believe I am now getting 100+. I am sure I was getting 75 consistently. What a coincidence.

ericn32: "Is Orange County (Costa Mesa 92627, fmr. Comcast/AT&T) included in this upgrade, or will it be upgraded?"

According to OCR, Costa Mesa & West Hollywood should see upgrades this month (Feb 2014). Rest of OC/LA completed by year's end. (But considering WestHo is already up, perhaps CM is as well)

I wanted to let everyone know I am currently paying the promo Ultimate 50 price (64.99). Last Monday my internet was down for 3 hours and when I came back online I did a speed test and I now have 100mbit.
