My FIOS Mobile iPad App plays perfectly, but no airplay?

My FIOS Mobile iPad App plays perfectly, but no airplay?

The ipad screen is pretty small so I bought one of those Apple TV boxes ($99) to use Airplay and "Mirror" to a 15 inch monitor. From my iPad the Mirroring works perfectly fine, BUT not with the FIOS Mobile App active. Some message appears on the Apply TV saying not available.

Is this some sort of content restriction imposed by Verozon FIOS?

If I instead bought the $49 cable for iPad port to HDMI (or cable Ipad to VGA) would I then be able to view FIOS Mobile App on an external monitor?

For the past week, Fios Mobile has not been working at all on my iPhone, always buffering. No problems on Droid phone though.

That's definately unrelated to my original question, looks like you have already narrowed it down to your iPhone. On my iPad Fios Mobile works fine, just can't get it to mirrow to an external monitor.... anyone?

The app is not Airplay capable. Most streaming apps aren't.

There you go, good old Apple and the never ending restrictions.

How about the cable idea? Direct from iPads to external monitor, no Airplay in this picture.

Its all about the money. Not sure if the blame would be with Apple or Verizon. I think it's more likely verizon's fault since they want you to have a rental box $$ on every TV.

Some apps do not allow HDMI output, either.

And it's not an Apple imposed restriction - Verizon wrote the app

It's a Verizon restriction, not Apple.

It is a licensing issue. I exchanged email on this with the app team, and the licensing with the providers currently does not include airplay or Chromecast.

Two very mainstream services Netflix and Amazon Instant Video both have AirPlay. As does Pandora just to name a few.
