[Retouch] Scanner artifact removal.

Click for full size
Anyway to touch this up? I've got a cheap all in one printer/scanner. Despite being rarely used and cleaning and wiping with a microfiber cloth the artifacts remain. Any help is appreciated.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

I ran your image through the Salt and Pepper filter with size @ 3 pixels and sensitivity @ 4. (S&P filter in PSP X5). I think it got most of the specs and artifacts.
I don't think it is possible to clean the glass to the extent that all specs will be eliminated because I don't think they all come from the glass.
I did notice that the filter reduced the one eye highlight just a tad though.

In Corel PaintShop Pro X5 click on Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Salt and Pepper Filter.

Here's another version. I ran it through the Dust Removal preset in Topaz Simplify 4.

And, so cute that I had to play a little. . .

Playing around further with Kitty's image using Pho.to Lab on my NookHD. (Just the Christmas theme - no further artifact removal.)

i ran "despeckle" twice in PS CS2, then cloned out about a dozen loose ones scattered in the various corners. then did a light sharpen.
