First, please confirm your units of measurement. MB in standard parlance is MegaBYTES. Mb is standard for MegaBITS.
2ndly, where are you doing your speed tests? Online ones don't really tell you jackall, and if you're using them to
test both your rated pipe speed AND your wireless speed, then you're REALLY throwing in too many variables, IMHO (ie.
pipe, wired speed, wireless speed). Test one thing at a time.
3rdly, keep in mind wireless is a 1/2duplex medium, so the more hosts you add to it -- you've mentioned so far
I-Pad, 2 I-Phones, 2 I-Pod touches, 2 laptops and 1 I-Mac -- you're going to drop your throughput just that much more.
Focusing on your last sentence, to rule out the E2500, your best bet would be to get two PCs, hook one to the E2500's
LAN ports, the other to the E2500's WAN port. Then get a program like IPERF and see if the gear can move the rated speed
or not. You can run a similar test for wireless, just put one of the clients on wireless.
As a last suggestion, you may want to hit up the router charts over at smallnetbuilder.net. They do list the E2500
and the throughput numbers they tested.
