Download Speeds Slow

Anyone notice their download speeds extremely slow tonight? I'm in the Warren, Michigan area, trying to download 3 podcasts, taking forever.

Lots of downed wires from the windstorm and tornados. Might be rerouting the signals.

It worked well yesterday (Monday).

Yep, I'm in Center Line atm and am getting a constant 10k ping in games, and a 0.25Mb download rate. Fine yesterday, crap today.

Wow. Literally. It's still slow today here. And I tried various speed tests, some say 15, some less than 1.

and from wows speed test:

Upload Speed: 813 kbps (101.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 24 ms

i know its out of their network, but its obviously causing issues for a lot of users.

I'm getting full speeds with the speakeasy speed test tool:

www.speedtest.net shows 30/3 Mbps, but my downloads will not go faster than 20kps. This is ridiculous. I scheduled an appt. for Friday, but since it seems others are in the same boa, I doubt it'll help. Awesome. Please post updates if you have any!

I have 50/5 been happening for 2 nights now. I live in Warren.

It's definitely location dependent. Speakeasy test to New York gets me 30mbs, while Chicago gets me 0.45mbs.

From around 4am-2pm it was fixed, I was getting good ping and normal down/up rates. Then it went to crap again... very annoying.

I already PM'd him.

So for me, anything east coast is fine, anything else sucks.

Please guys, call WOW and let them know this is an issue if you haven't already. They keep claiming everything looks fine on their end. While speed tests show the proper speed, on most sites, downloads are stuck below 20Kps. I received a credit for the issues today, but was told there could be a charge if the tech arrives on Friday and there's no apparent issue at that time. I had the guy document everything on the account, so hopefully I can get out of a charge (after all I am a Sys Admin) if it doesn't show up then, but it would help to have others document this as well. Very strange and aggravating!

I noticed everything seemed normal this morning as well (at about 8a), but then after I got home, it was back to crap. It really screwed me on a WebEx conference this evening! I am in Warren north of the 696 corridor and a couple miles east of Madison Heights. I noticed horrible speed when testing Speakeasy Chicago just now, but good speed to the New York server as well.

Re: Download Speeds Slow

I hear you... I was asked if I had cleared all of my cookies lately... ugh... After a short conversation showing I was well beyond the normal user, Anthony was quite helpful. I was told he'll try to escalate it (whatever that actually turns into). You might even get a credit out of it if you're nice! ;P

I'm on the phone now, have a very nice rep on the line. She said her last five calls have been about slow speed, and they have over 200 calls on hold right now. I'm on hold while she talks to the NOC.

Edit: She says the NOC isn't getting any alarms, but she logged the call as an issue. So it's just a matter of them getting enough calls about it that it gets run up the line for investigation.

So, yeah guys, call them!

+1,000,000! This will get resolved sooner than later! Thanks, Inflex.

I also called them and really they had no idea what was going on. Had me ping yahoo and my default gateway. Dropped packets on yahoo, "well since it's not a problem within the WOW network, we can't do anything". This is just ridiculous.
