Proving, yet again, that there are a lot of folks around with way too much time on their hands... |

Sounds like one of life's greatest mysteries. And also sounds like that other, uh, topic, uh, that's probably forbidden on this board . (One day I'll have to read the rules .) |

I'm curious as to the who and why, but whatever it is, it is ingenious. |

said by jaykaykay:"a series of seemingly unsolveable problems" Sounds like our Government. Yeah and before they copied the method the Scientology mob would offer free IQ tests to passers by on city streets around the world hoping to find someone smart enough to recruit but dumb enough to agree to it. Preceeding that the Masons. If it is a government it would seem this deal is different to previous offerings. This one appears to want the best person available to break something from the past, not recruit just an above average person for future offerings at a low pay grade. |

I like a good challenge / puzzle as much as the next person... but seriously, I'd go bananas at the level of suspense. Sometimes the urge to flip to the end of the book is more desireable than losing one's sanity.

Yeah but Name Games second link leads to this little Gem. quote: Some news organisations have recently claimed that "Cicada 3301" is tied to the illegal activities of an individual going by "Necrome".
This is not true.
We do not engage in illegal activities. We are not associated with this individual.
Anyone involved in illegal activities would be cut off from our fellowship immediately.
Sorry to spoil it. The group probably has ties with.......? though. » uncovering-cicada.wikia. ··· errorism |

Smoke and mirrors. Whenever you have an anonymous group purportedly making anonymous postings that would have readers believe they are "authentic", it strains what little credibility they might otherwise possess. |

Making people jump through hoops that have enough smarts to be a security risk themselves in order to prove their worthiness to an unknown organisation centred around the ability to encode and decrypt secrets and using untraceable forum methods of communication with rules designed to keep that communication secret? I guess if the UN sanctions them however.... What could possibly go wrong? |

Mental Floss is old "stuff" and old news since it was written in DEC 2012..what you missed is..... For now." All too abruptly for thousands of intrigued solvers, it had gone quiet. Except no. On January 4 this year, something new.. in the first link and even more in the second link posted above. |
