After ~6 weeks of constant packet loss... Nothing

I first contacted cableone about 6 weeks ago regarding some random packet loss issues.

6 technicians, and 6 weeks later, nothing has changed, and I've been told by a recent technician that 7% packet loss is acceptable, and nothing can be done.

I live in the Long Beach/Gulfport/Biloxi Mississippi area.

Please... if anyone else in the area is having issues, please call them and see if we can get our voices heard.

Are these results of testing with a router between the PC? Or direct ISP modem to PC?
What model ISP modem do you have?

Ok, keep us posted. I have the same modem and it's a good modem. I love the SB 6 series modems. Thats a problem with the signal going to the modem. They need to address this. Again, make sure the cable going into the modem is in good condition and no splitters. Get a tech out and show him what your seeing when directly connected. You might try a 2nd modem just to be sure you can isolate it.

I've had six different techs out to my house, they all say they have "fixed" the problem. But it is only the same each time. Having them come out isn't doing any good anymore.

So when they come out, do you run this same test let them see the results so they can see what your seeing?

Yes, they say a few things:

It's fixed, it just needs time
That's acceptable, we can't fix it

Just started running some more ping tests.

Wired connection, directly from the modem to PC

Ya the times seem too high. And this is direct with ISP modem with PC?
Ensure all security and back ground running programs are disabled during test?
Test with a different PC to be sure.

I can ping that IP and avg mostly in the 80ms's an I'm well north of you:

Just tested with another PC, also directly from the modem. Only thing running in the background was essential windows services. Still getting roughly the same results, avg 200.

Ok, well, I would presume there is some noises on the line and living in high populated area, could also have some impact as well. You have a good modem so it rules that out. I have the same. I would contact someone at C1 and ask them what ping times is acceptable for your area and see what they say. See if they can get the times lowered. I believe this is a problem thats isolated to your area. I wonder if any other C1 users close to you have the same issue? Have any neighbors around with C1? Maybe you can check there ping times? Might be worth asking.

Need tracert to see the route your connection is going. Could be nothing at all wrong with Cable One and could be someone elses router or or some Tier 1 backbone issues. There have been numerous issues with Level 3 over the past 6-8 months all over the country.
