Nexus 7 w/4.4 Problems

Anyone survive the 4.4 (kitkat) update. I've been blocking it here.

just one of the problems reported »techcrunch.com/2013/11/29/google···nexus-7/

which nexus 7?

I have 1 2013 that is updated no problems

also have 4 2012 that are the kids that were updated that still run games smooth.

My nexus 5 runs smooth as does the nexus 4. My htc one also runs kit kat smooth.

Thanks for the response. I'll probably give it a week or two and then try it

I have the 2012 N7 and no problems, in fact it is running much faster than before in the areas of browsing and general operation.

I don't have any HD loaded on the device, I watch all video on it over the air... perhaps if I had a lot of HD locally I would be seeing the issue techcrunch reported?

I read that 4.4.1 is rolling out. Maybe that will address the issues you are concerned about.

I waited until all the early adopters had tried it for a couple of weeks before applying it to my N7 2013 last weekend and have had no issues. Google did push out a fix to the original release so I suspect most of the main problems are no more. The only annoyance is that they have put battery stats under root permission so all apps such as BetterBatteryStats no longer provide much useful info on kit kat unless you are rooted.

My 2012 Nexus 7 just updated to 4.4.2 OTA. (Not the N4 yet, though.)

I finally let do the 4.4 update and wound up with a brick. It just keep circling 4 color dots in the center of the screen. I had made a nandroid backup and was able to restore it to 4.3

Re: Nexus 7 w/4.4 Problems (solved)

Have it working but never got the OTA to do anything but screw it up.

Made a backup of all the apps. Did a clean install of 4.4.2 from Google site. Rooted it. Put the apps back.

To me it seems a little faster.
