[Internet] BHNExpert I need your help yet again my friend

A few years back I was having gaming issues with my ps3. It took about 12 techs to fix my problem. In the end the wiring on the house needed fixing and all the boxes on the telephone lines on my no outlet street need changing and BH finally did just that. Since then I have moved from hudson fl to safety harbor. BH now offers 90m which I purchased. I'm on the next gen console now (ps4). I'm doing speed test on my actual console and they are so very bad. 23 down and 5 up. The 5 up is perfect.. The down speed is horrible. On speedtest.com we average 103 down and about 11 up. I have had major issues with lag online. I know what you are thinking... It's the ps4 servers but that is not the case. I play with 5 guys daily and when I'm lagging they are not. I notice my tv service digitizes alot! It's freezes and goes all crazy, So my common sense tells me the internet will be doing the exact same thing. My friend has fios, on his speedtest on the ps4 he is getting 56 down and a little over 5 up. I understand fiber optics is much better then cable. But he only pays for 50 down and 25 up. With me getting 103 down I would think I could match that very same quality. I love Bh and supporting my local ISP. But at this point I don't know what do. I just invested a grand in my gaming console and can't even enjoy it because of the lag issues I'm having. I can't get Fios either because brighthouse wrote a contract with my condo association. Please what can I do? I have called bright house and got a lead tech. After 5 techs he was the first to actually go outside and test stuff. He said he was going to request another specialist to check boxes on poles I think and they never showed. I have the ubee router and have it bridged. I'm using the asus black diamond still that you suggested to me 3 years back. I attached 2 photos. The higher speeds are my friends and the lower is mine. Can I achieve greater speeds with cable? These guys are doing nothing special, Just a bandwith package from verizon and no special router. only provided router

I will literally pay whoever I can to get my bandwidth correct. I know a guy who is a subcontractor for knight enterprise which BHN uses. i was going to pay him to rewire just the modem cable if it's possible. It' sounds dorky i know. Gaming is my passion and I'm damn good at! I hold a rank of 23 in the world on COD Ghost but it's hard because MY KDR (kill to death ratio) gets shattered because they see me before I see them! I'm just so frustrated!

Ill take anyones advise on what i can do. I have list of all ports the PSN (playstation network) uses. Should I set a static Ip or dmz and do some port forwards or port triggering via my asus rt-n56u? Honestly I'm not sure how to quite do so But following instructions quite well.

Thank you so much BHNexpert. You have no idea How grateful I am of you. It's quite sad that no one at BHN even knows who you are considering you carry more knowledge then any other tech I have ever spoken with. You need more recognition.

To clarify for the digestion of others. The speed test built into the gaming console devices is not relevant nor should it be used to benchmark the cabilities of your connection. While it provides limited useful information it isn't useful beyond that and in no way should be used to determine the health of your connection. That said, there are other issues that you raise that can be addressed and will be.

yeah i understand that. It's a reference guide only. the part that bothers me the most is i brought to my brothers and he has fios as well and got the readings i was looking for. To an extent it be a useful guide from others. But my clan members can physically see me skipping all over the maps on the game. I'm not crazy lol. I'm definitely having issues with consistent connection speeds. Thanks again for looking into this for me.

You are probably a victim of peering. It is common with BrightHouse and has even been discussed on this forum recently. Verizon does not have the same issue because of how they route their network traffic. BrightHouse is a completely different animal in that regard. Nothing that BH can do on a local level at all. As a customer of Brighthouse and Verizon, I can tell you my Verizon FIOS network is much more reliable. To get a better picture run a tracer route to various sites and look at the hops and times. I do like BH as overall they are good and have excellent customer service. The Internet networking could use some work though to get where Verizon FIOS is in regards to speed and reliability. You won't find anyone as helpful on Verizon as Gary is on here but it is a trade-off.

I'm just quite certain i'm getting inconsistent speeds. Not a slight fluctuation but a very large one. My internet and tv service go crazy during rain. I had this same issue with brighthouse in pasco fl at my old residents and finally a tech went out of his way and actually did more work then just test cabling within household. He went outside to main box and there were some major issues happening. 2 days later I seen 2 BH trucks with man lifts changing out these boxes on all the telephone poles. the tech told me that the seals were corroded and water and moisture were getting into these boxes creating horrible signal for every in my townhome division. after they changed that and Gary suggested the asus router my gaming was superb. At that time only 50 mbs and 5 up existed. Im double in both ends but having major issues. It's not just my console. PC as well and even streaming movies via VOD with BH the movies constantly buffer and freeze and digitize as i call it. I took video of it as proof to show the techs. I just recently got a new cable box for my room and it has been changed twice now. First it wouldn't give me HD channels and now it's going crazy again. It wont display time.. It just reads "8" on the led display? I understand no company wants to dish out money to upgrade wiring ect.. But hell. At some point you have to. Nothing lasts forever. Been a BH customer for 5 years and I'm happy with them when everything is working as it should lol. And as I said I can't get fios. Brighthouse had my condo division sing a contract so no fios for me. Had I known that i would not have signed another 1 year lease last month and would have moved where it's available. Yes.. I would relocate just for internet speeds lol.

Part of the problem you have is signal related. See your direct forums post please.
