'Just purchased this Samsung TV, received a very good deal on it.
How will this compare to the present Pioneer plasma TV I have as
far as picture quality ?
'Just looking for opinions on the TV and picture quality, this is my first experience with a LED type TV.
Murphy's Law and all it's corollaries are as constant as pi !
Nothing compares to the Pioneer Elite plasma in my opinion. I have a Pioneer Elite plasma and a Samsung F7100 (almost the same TV) and the Pioneer is far better.

This applies to all modern LCD LED screen in general.
If you don't like the "video look" or if you think the motion seems odd and with timing issues then disable the motion correction.
On most samsungs it is located in: Menu, Picture, Picture Options
Experiment with disabling "Auto Motion Plus" and "LED Motion Plus" to get a standard non motion corrected version of whatever video you are watching.

I've got a 46" 2009 7100 series Samsung LED back lit display. Professionally ISF calibrated. Also, all the gimmicks (120Hz, motion stuff, the works) are disabled
I've also got a 64" 2012 8000 series Samsung plasma. Also professionally ISF calibrated.
Now, the two sets are not near each other. And just casually watching TV, I don't notice any differences.
However, get some critical viewing going on - the blacks on the LED set show pixelation. Where as the plasma, it's just black. Color reproduction, to me, there's no visible difference between the two.
Maybe if they were side-by-side differences would be noticed. But I don't have enough wall space to make that happen.
Yes, I was seriously considering the 7100 series until a great deal came along on the F8000, 'would have probably purchased the 65" 7100 otherwise.
If I can still change my order, regardless of price (8000 60" for $20 more the 65" 7100), would a plasma TV be a better choice ?
I'm not sure about the Pioneer Elite mentioned, but my model is the PDP-4280HD 42", which has been a great TV as far as picture and general features.
I made this purchase because of the reviews I've seen that emphasize the picture quality of this particular TV & in order to get a "smart" TV (plus the larger screen obviously), and did not consider a plasma TV. Possibly I should look a little closer at some of the high end plasma TV's, as I can still change my order.
Thanks to all for the comments and information.
