Thanks again for input everyone, sorry for delay getting a photo. If anyone thought I had died from electric shock, rest assured I am still OK!!!

Attached is a photo of the conduit, I blacked out irrelevant stuff.

So the question remains... will this conduit act as a ground? Or should I call my landlord to get an electrician over here to install a proper ground?

Lets see additional photos showing more of the wiring run. A shot of the connector where the cable enters the water heater would also be helpful. Note that this is not conduit; it is armored cable.

(FYI - the 'black out' reveals more than it hides.)
