GameFlyAnyone use GameFly or a similar service? Thinking of getting it for my boy for Christmas as he likes to constantly play different games. Just curious what feedback is, good and bad. |

It's a great idea, but it didn't work well for me in execution. I never got the newer games in my queue, and it took a week to ship to and from for some reason, every time. It was quicker and cheaper for me to rent locally. This was when it first came out though, I hear it's much better now. My problem was likely the fact that I was nowhere near one of their distribution centers back then. |

I used it many years ago and i was very happy with it. I went with the 2 games out at a time option so when one was on its way back and the next was being shipped out i always had a new game to play |

I used to use the service. I liked it because at 16 bucks a month, I was able to play 2 or 3 games vs the cost of buying games. I hated the turn around times, which seemed to be about a week.
I dropped them for Blockbuster@home. It was an offering by Dish. 10 bucks a month for movies or games. It was nice while it lasted. I have yet to return to gamefly, as I noticed Redbox offers games. I'm hesitant to try them though, as they seem pricey at 2 bucks a day. And currently my PS3 is more often used as a netflix streamer vs playing games. |

I used back in the gamecube days. Worked well and never really had any complaints. I had one scratched disk once but was a non hassle to get a swap (besides shipping time). Was only 1 scratched out of 20 or so games I got from them during the months. |

I used the service about 3 years ago. I kept it for about a year. It was extremely hard to get new releases even if you sent games back at the right time. The turn around sucked. The post office was suppose to scan the game once they received it and gamefly would send another game out. Apparently that never happened and I had to wait about 2 to 3 days for gamefly to receive my return than another 2 to 3 days to receive my next rental. The deals to keep the games were good and usually fairly priced but in the end it wasn't worth the 25 bucks for 2 at a time. If the one at a time was cheaper than 18 bucks after taxes I think the service would be excellent. I wish it was about 10 bucks a month. |

I was a subscriber for many years, and only had one game NOT show up that they shipped. I reported it, they shipped another one. I have had a couple of scratched discs, again, email them, they ship another copy and tell me to return the bad one. No problems. I signed up originally for PS2 games to use with HD Loader.
I also built my PSP collection from them, as for many titles, I chose the "Keep it" option, and they then ship you the manual, case, etc. I picked up the first Persona game on PSP for $14 and they shipped me the collectors edition which has the soundtrack. Dang good deal. Got the same kind of deal when I kept AR Tonelico Quoga for PS3 - I paid $12 after my coupon and I got the big box collector's edition, which has the soundtrack and artbook.
Pros: You do have access to new games, and most have keep it options which come in cheaper than Gamestop, and you have the disc already, so you know if it's scratched, etc. Every 3 months you get a $5 coupon to use on games. There is a very slim overlap (like a day) where you can have access to 2 coupons, but that's on the first of the 3 month cycle, They expire after 3 months, I would've liked it better if they stacked, seriously, $20 a year isn't a big deal to them. Still, $5 is at least something, and better than nothing.
Cons: Turn around when you ship a game back and getting another can be a week, so like someone else said. having the 2 games out option is a good idea to keep something going while you wait for that turnaround. New, popular games can have a long wait, so be prepared for that. Just because you add it to your queue doesn't mean you're going to get it anytime soon. They ship in order, so if #1 isn't available when your return comes in, they ship you #2 if it's available instead.
I ended my sub with them because I don't play as much on my PS3 game wise as I used to, so games would come and sit for weeks and not be played. So that money was better served elsewhere. I didn't cancel because I wasn't satisfied with it, I WAS, and would recommend it to anyone to at least try for a couple of months. |

It's not console specific is it? We have an xbox 360, Wii, and he has a PSP handheld. I can get one (or two) game(s) a week regardless of platform, right? |
