iMessage has to be blocked on the wifi in the first place then?

Woohoo, Pay $8 bucks for crippled service, and and extra $2 to ease restrictions.

Sounds like a good time to have an OpenVPN connection to your house on trips.

No, it's never been blocked as neither was T-Mobile's UMA/WiFi Calling. This is just giving someone an option to pay $2 for WiFi access to message instead of paying to have full browsing.

I normally do plenty of SMS/MMS on planes using WiFi Calling on my phone, it's actually nice to have and wish more carriers would implement it. I refuse to go to another carrier until they implement it as it's saved me tons when overseas and now with free (but throttled) data, T-Mobile makes even more sense than before.

No -- iMessage is not blocked.. This allows you to just pay $2 if all you want to do is use iMessage and not pay the full $8 for complete WiFi access..

No the $8 includes iMessage I just flew last week and saw the $2 option but decided I wanted more
