Thinking about coming back to TSI after a four year departure because my current provider is still offering only 1 meg upload.
Noticed the new SR505N router/modem solution and was wondering if it's supports QoS and whether FreePhoneLine.ca will work with your service.
Thanks! |

It does support QoS. How well it works, I can't tell you cuz I use mine in Bridge mode.
any voip will should work with any ISP pretty much as long as you set up your ATA properly and QoS as well. |

Is anything being offered to the rest of us that bought the crappy Sagemcom from Teksavvy and now have to buy another modem to get proper service ? I bought my Sagemcom (was not offered an alternative)in July or August with shipping was $130 and now to replace a defective modem I have to dish out another $130 ? Doesn't seem fair to me. |

If you are currently experiencing issues which are known to exist with the Sagemcom, we just need to do some testing with you and we can look at trading it up.
If you are not experiencing service impacting issues (as not everyone does), then no, we would not be replacing it.
If your having issues, you can post in the direct forum. |

Re: [DSL] SmartRG modems are now available. Thanks for the reply, yes we are having what I would call stalling issues. My son the gamer is constantly complaining that we are losing internet connection , when I look at the modem, it appears all is connected but nothing happens, web pages don't load, etc, seems like its frozen and then suddenly it starts working again. Will post up in the direct forums. |

Well its going from bad to worse. Posted in direct forum and listed my problems and the reps pretend like this is the first time some complains for a well documented problem. So far all they managed was a half assed attempt to "fix" my problem by switching my profile to interleaved and doubling my ping times. My son thanks you in advance. |

As per my previous post, we need to test it. If SNS disappears, then it's confirmed and we can swap it. |

Swapping profile from fastpath to interleaved is not a way to test. It helps some people, and others it doesn't , not a positive way to test any hardware. I watch my modem lights and check my logs, I haven't lost connection since Dec. 7,2013 due to a power fail. and yet even today was unable to browse web sites for a period and then magically started working again without re-setting the modem or losing connection Sounds a lot like someone's quote
"The "Sync but no surf" issue is defined as not suddenly not being able to surf to any websites, despite the fact that your modem maintains sync, your login remains current, and other applications such as instant messenging programs continue to work. If this describes your problems, then you have the "Sync but no surf issue" |

Every single customer I have helped with testing the Sync No Surf issue had relief when I flipped the profile to interleaved. That being said, I figured that it would be the easiest and quickest way to test your connection to get you a SmartRG, but hey, I could be wrong.
That being said, it sounds like you know way more than I do so you don't need my help.
Go ahead and do the troubleshooting you recommend with my staff and they can go from there.
Goodnight,
Andre |

Sure it's a bandaid. Increasing ping times to a higher yet more stable level is better than figuratively dropping the connection randomly and often. To boot, it seems like if the sync no surf goes away you are eligible for a new (better) modem. Seems like a time to embrace a few days of higher more stable pings to me. |

Got my SmartRG modem today. As seen in this other thread, it doesn't sync out of the box until you do a factory reset, which also erases the TSI config and UI. Once everything was set up and in bridge mode, speeds are lower, I'm only seeing 46 Mbps in speed tests. So I've lost about 10% of the speed in speed tests. |

I am not running in bridge mode. I wasn't with my CellPipe either. But my speed tests are exactly the same with the SmartRG.
Edit: That's not quite true. My download is the same but my upload is a hair faster. Best upload with the CellPipe was 7.66 - with the SmartRg I just got a 7.74 and 7.88. |

I didn't want to infer that I was more knowledgeable than you, just that I am fully aware as to how poor a piece of equipment the Sagemcom modems are and that I'm not looking for a temp patch or band-aid fix. I've tried to work with your team and they even confirmed that my line has not gone down or otherwise lost connection. I think we can clearly conclude that we are suffering from the infamous Sync No Surf issue which is directly related to the poorly performing Sagemcom modems. |

If its confirmed i have SNS, is 'swapping' for the SmartRG only valid if you purchased the Sagemcom outright?
I had the Sagemcom on rent - would I qualify?
Reason I'm asking: I just purchased the SmartRG in full. Clearly, I would rather want a swap at 0 cost.
Thanks |

If you are renting it, then yes your qualify. Just post in the direct and they can take care of you.
They will explain the procedure. |

Thank you.
I trust Teksavvy will do the right thing and credit me the amount I paid, once confirmed.
I will initiate the ticket now. |

My DLINK is dying.. and i am tired of replacing modems.. just want something good and stable. You mean 15/1 (ADSL2+) or 15/10 (VDSL2)? It's compatible with both, but you need to reconfigure it for ADSL2+ vs VDSL2. |
|
|
yeh sorry 15/1.... so you can use it but just reconfigure it?
from the st516.. to the tplink to the dlink i'd rater spend money and buy something stable and good?
but how good can one modem be |

Yeah, it just has to be reconfigured from VDSL2 to ADSL2+. Though if you buy it from TSI for 15/1 you can probably ask them to preconfigure it for you. |
