If I leave my computer for more than 5 minutes then I hit the hibernate button on my way. So, no screensaver here. |

Marine Aquarium 2 |
I use a old one called 'Marine Aquarium 2 + Time'. You can have a calendar and time, but I like it with out it. Also, it sounds like a real Aquarium with bubbles in the water. My parrotlet likes to watch the fish. |

I uses a bubbles scr on all of my computers. Only the XP version had to be a paid version. Why do I use it? I like it. |

My favorite one was one called "Electric!". I managed to find a copy of it but haven't gotten it to work on Win 8.1. Here's what one image of it looked like - the colors and patterns continuously changed:

No screen saver here. I believe in saving the screen, so it goes dark when not being used. |

I switch between Mystify that comes with Windows and a Matrix screensaver. Each have a meaning to me. The first computer that I ever touched that had a graphical user interface back in 1994 had a screensaver that was very similar to Mystify, or at least how Mystify looked in Windows XP and prior. First time I touched Linux was Red Hat in 2003 and it had a Matrix screensaver that I thought was geeky. In older versions of Windows I used to use the bouncing Windows logo screensaver on occasion but that was retired with Windows 7/Server 2008R2. I feel like I'm in some type of command center right out of them movie when all four displays and nothing but back screens with green cryptic characters scrolling down at a very fast pace. |

I use the 3-D screensaver with the time and have it set in the wobble mode. Maybe that beautiful but at least it serves a useful function of telling the time as well as being a screensaver. |

It's very sad....just like most things regarding Windows 8 ....they don't work right on Win 8. They should on a DESKTOP. I wouldn't need or want one for a laptop, tablet, or phone. There are very few included in Windows 8 and Photo Gallery that I love and use on my XP Pro machine doesn't work on Windows 8. Besides that Microsoft evidently knows nothing about SSDs because I have a 256GB SSD and moved everything like photos, my documents, email, etc. to my 2TB Data drive. Photo Gallery is hard coded to the C drive location for photos. Besides, before I moved Photos to the D drive, Photo Gallery would get hung very frequently so I couldn't use it. I disagree that screensavers are no longer needed. I have my monitor, which is now 10.5 years old, set to go to screen saver after 3 minutes of inactivity and to turn off at 5 minutes of inactivity. I believe these settings are partly why this Dell Ultrasharp monitor is still going strong with about 30,000 hours of use on it. Plus, screensavers are pretty to look at. Microsoft, of course, thinks a computer should now be extremely difficult to look at so, of course, Microsoft is not motivated to include properly working screen savers on Windows 8. I use Ribbons but it recently started hanging so I switched to Mystify and it has been working ok but there are only 7 screensavers included with Win 8. |

You have a 256 GB SSD which is your C drive, a 2 TB HDD which is your D drive and you moved My Docs, Pics, Music, Vids et al off of the C drive on to the D drive and your blaming Windows 8 because the Photo Gallery screensaver does not work because you believe it is hard coded to only look on the C drive? Could you please tell me what I am missing? |

Heh. The vast majority of my photos are on a networked WHS but Windows 8 and Photo Gallery have no issues with that either... |

Electricsheep.org The initial install repeats 3 main "sheep" but the longer you let it run, the more it generates on its own. |
