Several Questions, Regarding the Download Allowance on HN7000S
This is my first post here, and I came bearing questions.
Firstly, I have HughesNet HN7000S. To be quite honest, there hasn't had a day I haven't had a problem with it. It was out basically the entire summer, but that problem seemed to fix itself over October/November. The biggest problem I have now is the download allowance.
We have a 475 MB Download Allowance, and I was wondering if it was possible to get more. It's really disappointing not being able to play most online video games (especially Unity-based games, like City of Steam, for example) with my friends, or watch videos whether for information or entertainment. We have a large range of family that come over and use up our download allowance unknowingly, and we are down to one more free DA token. $10 a token is just way too much to pay for one, so my Mom says when we run out we'll be waiting the 24 hours to get it refilled.
I'm sorry, I'm squabbling. Anyway, my question is, is there any way possible for us to get more total download allowance? 475 MB might sound like a lot, but I use 30-50% during an hour of gameplay, unless it's a flash game, which gets pretty boring pretty fast. My Mom can't do a lot of things work-wise either. So she's up before 2 AM everyday to get some of her work done during the free DA hours.
Any information would be nice.
Also, HughesNet's site is nearly impossible to navigate. I would like a general price for HughesNet Business, to compare with this one because it seems it has 3 times the DA as well as 3 times the refill rate.
I...think this post met the forum rules, regulations and such. And I'm pretty sure it's in the right place.
On Hughes Legacy plans your 475 Mb is about the top dog.
Some 7000 users had the Roll Over Bank enabled. Those on 91' W. others did not.
Except for Alaska no new 7000 plans are being commissioned.
You being on a 7000 system have a Daily Limit but have an hourly refill rate of 1/19th of your plan limit per hour. There is no refill during the late night (2 AM to 7AM eastern for all time zones)
Your only recourse it to purchase Tokens or utilize the late night un-metered period.
Any upgrades would involve either a legacy 9000 system with the same or lower daily limit, with a daily rather than hourly refill and you late night un-metered period would change to 2AM to 7AM local time.
Most likely any upgrade would involve a Gen4 or Gen4 wannabe 9000 system variant.
Those two systems have a monthly plan allowance rather than daily. If you burn thru that you are FAPPED for the remainder of your billing month.
To make matters worse, there is NO LATE NIGHT un-metered period. It has been replaced with a "Bonus Byte" period allotment used between 2AM to 8AM your local time.
The real killer on the Gen4 plans is that your uploads also count against your monthly data allotment.
A Gen4 Power Pro plan at $80 + $10 lease payment gives you 15000 Mb of Anytime Bytes, used between 8AM local to 2AM local for the billing month.
essentially 500 Mb per day and uploads count. That is LESS than you have now, and no freezone.
You have instead, for the above mentioned plan, 15000 Mb Bonus Bytes, used between 2AM to 8AM local.
Keep what you have.
