[Internet] First time DSL to Cable - what is the process?Hi everyone,
I always had Bell DSL but I am considering switching to unlimited TGV 20.
I wanted Fibe 25 installed but the Bell tech had problems finding the demarcation point in my home. I already have illico TV.
My question is what would be the process to have Videotron cable internet I installed? Apart from the cable box outside, do they need to do any installation inside the home or do they just connect the modem? I'm asking because the Bell installer wanted to rip open the walls to find the demarcation point. I have no idea where it is when they built the house.
Thanks |

Well, they do a small hole through the walls from outside to pass the cable then connect it to the modem. They install it where you want to install the modem. They won't rip apart your walls, that's for sure.
Also, have you considered using an IISP such as ElectronicBox or Teksavvy? They usually have (much) better prices, better caps and support. All that with the same reliability. Process will be the same at installation. |

If I have illico TV and coaxial outlets throughout the home, no drilling is involved, correct? |

If you already have the wiring, they only need to put a splitter for the modem edit: actually, if there is an outlet available where you want to put the modem (next to your PC/Router) then the tech only needs to run a cable from the outlet to the modem. |
