[TiVo] D.C. TiVo Winter Update.. This week we will be deploying what is dubbed the RCN TiVo Winter Update.. By friday the entire market should have the update that will include :
Dynamic Tuner Allocation : This means no longer having to lock up tuners for use for the Mini's , they will be pulled from a pool when needed
What to Watch Now Feature.. : This is a pretty cool feature that addresses some of the need to constant channel surfing with looking for something to watch. You probably have seen it on the TiVO App, It's now coming to your T.V. It shows your whats on Right NOW with regards to Movies / Sports etc..
Some Easy to Use Guide Filters, Filter by Genre etc..
Browse Web Videos is going away, this has been replaced by Web Video Hotlist
Mini's and Previews now will have the ability to access and modify the Season Pass Manager and To Do List on the host DVR.
Some Changes around Closed Captioning Changes (Transparency)
HTML 5 support, Which will include TWO REMADE Apps :
New Pandora App (HTML 5 Version)
AOL On! (HTML 5 Version) with TechCruch App
New MOVIEFONE App that is a very nice replacement to the legacy fandango app.
All these apps will launch late on Friday..
The Opera Store will launch in January, within the Opera Store App there are about 140 apps the include everything from Facebook, Twitter , Games , Weather , etc.. We are still working on that App and hope to launch it in Early Jan.

I'm looking forward to the HTML5 integration. From what I've heard, the apps are a good deal more responsive on the Premiere with HTML5. |

I know you mentioned the Apps launch on Friday but when will the Dynamic Tuner Allocation patch be installed ? Also Friday? Also --will having Dynamic Tuner Allocation make the minis behave like the previews ? RE: Record from a mini and still be able to watch live tv on that same tv AND still have three tuners available on the Quad ? |

My Q was updated to 20.3.8 last night, but the Preview is still on an older version I believe. I'm not seeing the What to Watch Now feature. Is this not coming till Friday?
Also, I noticed that while Browse Web Videos is now gone, the Download Manager screen is still there, with the two videos I've subscribed to still listed. Will we continue to have the ability to add Season Passes to Web Videos through the TCO? |

As of now all TiVo's in D.C. should be mapped to the winter update. Premieres should be downloading code tonight and will go into a pending restart and reset tomorrow night.
The new YouTube App will be coming online and the what to watch now will be enabled as well on Friday.. |

Re: [TiVo] D.C. TiVo Winter Update..Just a friendly heads up folks, if you manually force the update, be prepared to wait. On one of our Premier's, the update has been running for 15 minutes, then rebooted with a message screen saying an hour or more is still needed |

Another very cool feature that's now available with the new HTML5-based YouTube app is the implementation of the DIAL protocol, which allows you to very easily beam YouTube videos from your mobile device directly to your TiVo, without any pairing or setup. |

It now gives me leeway to move my Chromecast to my, umm..., less 'smart' TV. |

Jason, Now that D.C. has the TiVo Winter Update when will other markets such as NYC get the update? Can't wait to get off version 20.2.2.3.
Thanks, Bryan |

Thanks Jason. Received update version 20.3.8 last night in NYC. Was expecting 20.3.7 so nice to be on the latest and greatest. |

said by rcnman:...what to watch now will be enabled as well on Friday.. I am a little confused on this "What to Watch Now" feature on the TiVo. Sometimes the logo "LIVE" appears, and sometimes an additional RCN logo appears. Does this mean the movie is also on VOD? If that is correct, is there some way to go directly to the VOD without scrolling through the menus? Also, does it search through all available channels, or just the channels on the "favorite" list? |
