[App Update] Avast AV..(Final)..Ver..2014.9.0.2010...Dec.17/13

Quote...

Hi everyone,

You have all been quite helpful providing us with feedback and comments on the previous ("R1") version and the "R2" beta as well. Speaking about the beta we have fixed following issues:
- Fixed reported BSODs related to the WebShield, Networkshield and FW
- Browser plugin support in IE11
- USB rescue disk creation sometimes fails (WinXP)
- Added localizations

In terms of the core product changes, here's the (incomplete) list:

»forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=142550.0

EDIT...Now Turned FINAL!!...Ver..9.0.2011

See here for DL...»forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=142936.0

It should be possible to install this version on top of your existing avast! installation (all settings should be preserved). Or you can use in-product updater.

thanks a lot, enjoy this release!!!

Thanks, Art. This time, I'm going to wait awhile and see what folks in the Avast forum say before applying the update.

My mother stopped using Avast after the last update caused IE 8 to crash everytime she tried to use it. (She likes IE 8 and despises how newer versions of IE look and no she doesn't like Firefox).

Yeah, with Avast it's always safest to wait a day or two 'til the dust settles. Three pages of comments on the new version at the Avast Forum and there have been only a few problems so far.

I never got any of the hiccups experienced with version 9,as I still am using version 8.0.1489....Like you,am going to see how this new one works out for folks..

No problems here with the update except there's a new component......Grime fighter and I can't even find it.

Why they keep adding bloat to this anti virus is beyond me?

Thanks for mentioning that; I saw it being discussed at the Avast Forum. Are you using the paid version? I use the free one and won't update the program at all if Grime Fighter will be included.

No I use the free version.........which is why I'm wondering why they even install that on that version?

Yeah...according to your screen snapshot, it's supposed to be "a paid-for option."

No I never even got that option..........that's usually for a new install.

But come to think of it ...........I think you can view that from the add-remove in the CP.........have to check.

I agree. But as pointed out, Avast does let you customize the installation. Many other do not. Or at least not as easy. I'm still using it and I'm pretty picky!

I also installed the new version. I have The paid edition of Avast Pro Antivirus. No issues here to report.

I upgraded last night to build 2011. Very bumpy ride!! Took 3 tries for it to install without any oddities. (I only installed the File and Web shields. Nothing else.)

I posted to the Avast forum about it. Hopefully the next build will be smoother...

I installed it on my W7 laptop and it wouldn't move past the launching of the Avast emergency updater,so I had to reboot and it then said it had updated.

I think it's time to start looking for something less invasive.......especially if they continue adding crap.

It's can be found under tools and to have it clean anything that it finds on your system you will have to pay.
