Microsoft Visual C++ why so many?

I have about 10 entries for this thing...

Do I really need all of them, or can I delete all butthe more recent 2008 stuff?

maybe it's the ocd in me, but it clutters up my un install program file ;o)

It depends, AFAIK they aren't supersets meaning if an app uses 2008 it needs 2008 and you should have 2008 fully patched with all its updates.

but you might not be using 2008 anymore as you might have replaced the app that needed it with a newer one that uses 2010.

you're talking the framework thing right?

We still have VS 2005... The super expensive ERP software uses ASP.NET with .Net 2.0 and the manufacturer has not updated it. We cant even update our suite till they approve the update so that we are not building broken things...

Thankfully for a nice sum of money, we can have all that software updated so that we can use VS 2008... (in 2013.. I mean 2014..)
