Re: [HSI] 30mb/4mb goes to 60mb/4mb happening NOW

I was just at my local charter office trying to renegotiate my rate. They mentioned to me that this area should be upgraded to 60mbps by end of July. I am in Glendale, CA.

Thank you for this info I was wondering when our area would get the internet speed upgrade but I read in St. Louise their 30Mbps is going to a hundred kind of weird that 60Mbps was suppose happen quite a while ago but already planning a 100 so not sure why a 60Mbps and not a 100Mbps. Another thing is Charter is adding more channels in our area Glendale, CA few new HD Channels but sadly mostly crappy OTA channels.

One thing I am confused isn't the Glendale, CA area by end of this year going to be Comcast? I rather stay with Charter their internet is good but their cable is terrible like their DVR, Cable Guide and slow On Demand menu.

If the proposal Comcast has out there goes through...

I dont have their TV so I cant say. From what I've heard they want to launch all LA markets simultaneously, so maybe some areas need more work.

I live in St Louis and just powered my modem off for a minute and power back on and am still seeing 35 mb/s download speeds. One of my coworkers got switched over a few days that lives 5 miles from me and he's getting the 100 mb/s speeds. Hope the switch comes quick for me!

I wonder if and when NE WI customers will get switched over. Not a peep about any change from charter through mail or email

Still seeing those 30/4 speeds here too. O'Fallon IL. I see people around me have reported increases and the charter CSR said I should have the boost already. Went through re-provisioning and still have 30/4. Power cycled many times.

Which model of modem do you have? You may need to swap your modem.

I'm in O'Fallon as well, and I rebooted my modem and am getting the 100mbit speeds now. As Jazzemt says, you may need a modem swap.

SB6121. Compatibility was already confirmed by the CSR

SB6121 only supports up to 4 channels of downstream bonding which has a *theoretical* max speed of 172Mbps.

Charter may be (my guess they would have to) using 8 channel bonding to achieve the capacity to providing 100Mbps.

4 channels is perfectly capable of providing 100meg. If it wasn't, I would still see something close to 100 and I'm seeing 30.. Once again the CSR checked our equipment and verified that it is capable of receiving 100meg

You need a 8 channel modem. 4 is capable but 8 is what you need.

I don't "need" to upgrade the modem. The extra 4 channels from 8 channel bonding isn't gonna change much aside from during congestion (which I haven't seen in my area much).

I'm running 100Mbps (near Alton) on an SB6120, which is capable of using 4 up and 4 down.... so, No.. an 8 channel device is NOT required.

Just chatted with a tech that was checking my signal yesterday. He mentioned that for my area (southern Twin Cities, MN) they expect spectrum will go live at the end of September/early October.

Just got a message left on my voice mail from Charter telling me they are going all digital and i will need a set top box for every TV so i guess the upgrade must be coming soon. Just received mail that the digital transition will be July 15th.

I have the sb6121 on TWC 100mbps plan and it doesn't work I get 50 down with it and you need a 8x4 modem. In the future don't listen to the CSR they don't have a clue what they are talking about.

4 channels can theoretically get 150 Mbps. Even taking into account that theoretical maximums are never reached, one should expect 67% of maximum.

I did some research and found many cases of people getting 100meg service with their 6121. I think I got a bad CSR when I called, so I'll try again and see if a different person will be of more help.

That sucks... well last as usual with charter. Again I wish our local utility would do FTTH but they never will

They have no incentive to. I'd stick with Frontier DSL if they had a higher speed, but 768k upload is basically worthless. I know higher speed DSL is doable since CenturyLink has 40/5 service in the Twin Cities. That's FTTN.

When I had 100Mb service, that was the modem I was using.

I'm in west St. Louis county near Manchester and 270 but still only getting 30Mb after rebooting again this morning. I have the DPC3000 modem.
