Time Capsule Disk Errors

I recently picked up an early 2009 model (A1302, 500 GB). From what I have read online, the TC tests the hard drive file system when it is turned on and the light will flash to indicate errors.

The light on mine turns to a steady green after awhile (which should indicate that the file system is OK), but, if I remove the hard drive and connect it to my Mac Pro (using a SATA-to-USB adapter), both the Snow Leopard Disk Utility and Disk Warrior tell me that two of the three partitions have errors (DW was able to repair them).

Is the TC built-in file system verifier unreliable? Note that I have not checked yet to see if the firmware is up-to-date; if it isn't, perhaps the latest firmware has improved the verifier.

When a drive is used for backups it should pass tests without any error.
If there is any doubt about the health of a backup drive it should be replaced ASAP IMHO.

If the drive is only used for "test" or other "easy replaceable" files then it's probably fine to use. Just don't expect the drive to be reliable.

regards,
