Some dipshit at these companies is still under the impression that the way to win more customers is to treat them like crap. This won't sell more contracts, it'll drive more SMBs to cloud-based services where they don't have to worry about warranties.

Utterly deluded move by HP, and right as we were looking to become a partner.

Dell's new dumbassery is "No warranty, no tech support."

This was done retroactively and without notice. We called in for a no-boot OptiPlex and got told we had to renew the warranty before anyone would talk to us.

"But I'm calling for diagnosis so we can order replacement parts from you. You know, sales, profit?"

"You have to buy a warranty first."

Just spent three months trying to get a replacement screen for a Latitude from them. A part they sell for profit. Profit that they really, really need.

It's like trying to get the Keystone Kops to solve a bank robbery.

Good to see they're traveling down the same road as Microsoft in recent years... right up their own ass.

What I'd be curious to know about is the self-maintainer program. Of which my company is. Will that program still cover firmware/driver downloads?

I pinged our HP reps. But they're all on vacation.

Yeap I received an email a couple weeks ago stating the same. I think most "partners" got this email. They are looking to go the IBM route. Trying to transition their company so they are copying others who do it and not being their own company.

Very bad idea , just because everyone else does it does not make it right.

My HP gear is out of warranty soon anyway and we just use it for building code anyway. Im guessing that we will probably drop our support of this soon also. HP is a sinking ship, and soon cross building for their platforms will be easy.
