[Rant] Charged for free data though supposed tone freeSo Comcast is supposed to give two free dtas with basic and one free with economy. I ordered one and agent confirmed and shipped one. Then I noticed they were charging me. When I called to fix this chat agent basically deactivated rot. when I called back during day to get an actual agent that had ability to do something she said it's not letting me activate without the charge.
I though these free dtas were part of Comcasts agreement with the FCC when they were permitted to encrypt. They can't even honor their part of the agreement |

They were free for the first two years of the FCC agreement. There is now a charge. All legal. |

Free from the time of encryption depending on market. My market just went encrypted. It is free, it was just a pain in the butt dealing with the customer service to get it fixed. Long hold times, multiple transfers, people at night couldnt resolve issue etc.
I regret doing it though - should have kept the $1.99 - had more channels then I should have. |

No the 2 free dtas were for when comcast did away with analogs, not encryption. For example my area done away with analogs at least three years ago. They are just getting around to encryption now on the locals. The only people still eligible for free dtas here is limited basic only subs. Its well past the two dtas free arrangement which was for switching analogs off and had nothing to do with encrypting basic tv. |

Hmm, you said you sent one back. If you had one and sent it back you are not entitled to any free. Your only entitled to one free one if you didnt take advantage of the free ones during the world of more transition. If you previously had one and sent it back you are no longer entitled to any free ones. |
