Whiskey Tango Foxtrot 2014

It's January 1st of 2014 and we are expected to break the record for snowfall
for New Year's eve and New Year's day combined. It's 80° in West Palm Beach, FL
and It's -43° in Embarrass, MN.

Really? I remember a New Years Day Blizzard that was double digits inches in 1999 -- It was High School Christmas Break, and we were supposed to come back Jan 3 or 4, and that was even delayed, cause there was so much stinkin snow

Well, Wiki is a good resource. I guess that Blizzard didn't start until Jan 2

From the Trib
More snow, then highs near zero next week
»www.chicagotribune.com/n ··· 57.story

The snow ends by Friday but then the bitter cold begins, with wind chills falling to minus-15 to -minus-25.

Strange as this may seem, but I keep seeing this one individual who rides his bicycle
to work (at a restaurant) no matter how sh*tty the weather.

Sometimes I think that 68 and Party Cloudy that San Diego seems to have year round sounds kinda nice... but then again, its California (not that IL is doing much better)

How did you break a toe?
I'm going to guess it had something to do with your kids.

We went to San Diego 2 years ago for 4 days for my wifes work. They paid for the whole thing which was cool. We went in June when I guess they have what they call the "June Gloom". It would be in the 50s and cloudy and shitty all morning but it would clear up and be mid-upper 70s in the afternoon. And I saw an Octopus in the harbor which was cool.

In general the weather was nice. Their ZOO sucks ass though. But CA would be low on my list of places to move to anyway.

Nope, kicked a metal pole in the basement that I didn't see due to dark. Hit it just wrong/right at peak stride and *crack*.

Still snowing here as well.

Looking out at the driveway, you cannot even see where I shoveled this morning.

Blah. I hate snow!

Well, just got inside from round 3 of shoveling. The one good thing is that the snow is light and fluffy. However, even at that, it is getting hard to throw it onto the piles at the end of the driveway, which are now getting taller then myself.

The unofficial snow measurement as of a few minutes ago is 8.75 inches. Measurement was taken in my backyard for the snow that has fallen on top of our picnic table.

I know weather.com is not always the most accurate, but here is what they are saying for my area for the next 7 days. Of note is Monday the 6th, where they are saying a daytime high of -11!

I think its time to move south. Very very far south.

I agree with Jon, STOP SNOWING!

You could insulate any pipes that are against an outside wall if you can get at them and get covers for any outside faucets if you're worried. If your house has been around a while and hasn't had problems with freezing pipes in the past you should be fine though.

There was also the Blizzard of '77 as well, which they made a game out of.

We did have one of these, but sadly don't have it any more.

Does anyone else remember this board game, or still have one?

The kitchen is the only plumbing on an outside wall for me. Maybe I'll leave the cabinet door open. I does seem to get kinda chilly in there.

We need to get out of this cycle of Snow -> Below Zero -> Snow. I'm running out of places to put the snow.

There's a strong possibility of getting more of this crap Saturday night to Monday.
This is effing insane.

*IF* the long range forecast is correct there are a whole bunch of 40 degree days the second half of the month.
