Re: Whiskey Tango Foxtrot 2014

-9 at my house right now. This is friggin ridiculous.
And there's something wrong with the furnace humidifier. It's so dry in my house I'm getting nose bleeds.

Coastal Alaska is usually warmer. The coast brings far less extreme temperatures.

So if it's not bone chilling cold, it will snow.
This pattern is supposed to continue next month. SOB!!!!

I suppose we could all be in Bakersfield, CA where it's 70 and no water.

Feb 1st, does the forecast really predict 6-8ins of snow?

WLS's forecast showed as much as 12" in a stripe right through the main Chicago area. 6-8 far north and south. South of Chicago and NW Indiana could have some ice at times.

And we still have some more around Tuesday! As also mentioned on WLS, the pattern is changing just a bit. We still get the cold, but now more moisture is accessible.

Latest warning says about 4-8". It's always so tricky with snow since the amount of moisture and temperature can have major effects.

This has got to be a joke. 18 - 24" through Wed? I need a bulldozer
in order for my front yard to accommodate more snow.

On that note, it stopped snowing here?

only got about 4" here in Schaumburg and it looks like it is pretty much done for the day.
EDIT: I take that back. What looked like it was done has started again. When I looked at the radar around 9am it looked like the snow was leaving the area and there was nothing behind it, now it has reappeared and looks like we might have a few more hours.

Well then...
quote:
From Meteorologist Tammie Souza - Sick of winter? Then don't look at this graphic! Two more strong winter storms are headed our way this week (Tue-Wed & Sat-Sun). By Sunday night the forecast models have us buried under an additional 22"-25" of snow. In between the storms we will have bitter cold.

For Tue/Wed
They are saying that South of I80 is supposed to get the bulk of the snow 6."
I think North/NW suburbs get 2-3" if that.

UPDATE:
From Tom Skilling
Incoming snow system: 3 to 5" west & NW suburbs (Fox Valley/RFD); 4-6" Chi &
lakeside counties & 6 -8" south suburbs. Strengthening winds/drifting

I'm thinking that all we have to worry about is the minor accumulation this week-end
and Old Man Winter is slowly dying.

God I hope so. We've already got 3-4" and it's still coming down. Supposed to go sub-zero again the next few days. fucking sick of it.

Encouraging excerpts from trib

»www.chicagotribune.com/n ··· 87.story

"Snow is expected to start falling Saturday afternoon and peak in the evening, according to weather service meteorologist David Beacher. But it's unclear just how much snow the storm will pack."

"That could be our last major snow for a while. Beacher said the outlook for next week shows no appreciable snow, though temperatures will remain colder than normal, in the teens and 20s."

"On the bright side, daylight savings time begins on March 9, a little more than a month away. We already have about an hour's more daylights than we did on Dec. 21."

90/94 was a shitshow today.

I had a tire blow out and I ended up closing an eastbound lane on the Dan Ryan just leaving the Kennedy junction. There's no place to pull over there so I had no choice but to just stop.

After calling 911 twice, IDOT showed up an hour later and blocked me from getting killed while I was changing my tire. After further investigation, the first picture was what was left of my tire. Later that day at the tire shop, the boys asked me if I wanted a souvenir. They found a piece of welding scrap INSIDE my wheel pictured in the second picture.

I was handling winter pretty well up until now. I've officially had enough.

I thought the report of minus 21F in Rochelle, west of her, was an anomaly, but there are similar readings nearby.
