Re: Whiskey Tango Foxtrot 2014I hope you're right.
Skilling just posted this on his twitter account: Contradictory indications frm models Sun. Model jet stream structure fcst suggests sending snow south is wrong. We're sticking wi snow Sun.
His prediction is 3-6" through Sunday. |

said by StepR:current regional radar shows most of the storm to the north. Yep, it is supposed to slowly move South. We may luck out and only get a couple of inches. Unfortunately, the bulk of the accumulation is supposed to happen late PM & tonight. I think this is it. No more > 1" of snow and no more Polar Vortex. I'm cleaning the grill and buying some steaks. |

So much for my effing prediction. This just absolutely sucks. Rush hour is going to crawl.
Per Tom Skilling
"It's Chicago's 45th day of measurable snow of the season -- the most to occur through March 5 in 129 years of official snow records." |

Tom Skilling's 7-Day forecast Tuesday HIGH/LOW 44°/30° One of this winter's stronger storm threatens, starting late Tuesday evening with the onset of cold rain or a rain/sleet mix. A shift to heavy wet snow follows. Tuesday's rush hours shouldn't be affected, but the blustery storm will impact overnight travel, particularly as precipitation shifts to all snow late Tuesday night.---Extensive cloudiness. Strengthening northeast winds Tuesday afternoon will send temperatures lower.--Readings, which may reach the 40s for a time Tuesday morning, fall to the low and mid 30s in the afternoon/evening.---Cold rain, possible sleet, develops this evening changing to wet snow within an hour or two of midnight in the city -- sooner northwest and west.--Heavy, wind-blown snow the remainder of the night with possible embedded thunder and lightning late. Northeast winds increase 14 to 32 mph and gusty.--Accumulations of 4 to 8" possible toward morning -- but local 10" totals are possible in areas, especially beneath intense, thundery bursts of snowfall. Wednesday HIGH/LOW 30°/13° Quite windy. Snow into morning tapers to far lighter and more occasional lake-effect flurries or possible snow showers affecting counties adjacent to Lake Michigan beneath extensive cloudiness. Little additional accumulation after mid-morning. Widespread 6 to 8 inch final storm tallies but locally as much as 10" in areas affected by thundery overnight snowbursts. Northerly winds gradually become more northwest 14 to 30 mph and gusty, slowly easing in the afternoon. Cloud scatter, colder Wednesday night. Lows ranging from high single digits inland to the teens in the city. If you're gonna link to a weather forcast at least link to somebody that knows what he's talking about and not some talking head. |

I just finished shoveling 3" of wet snow. Oddly enough, it was easy since the snow just slid off the ice. |

It's still pretty chilly out there. It's 19 now. I actually kept my beer in the garage since I ran out of space in the fridge. (actually, just too lazy to clean the fridge) |

But, the average should be in the mid-upper 40's by now, so we are still averaging well below normal this week. But, it could be worse: » blog.chicagoweathercente ··· -let-go/ |

There was a nasty Northeast wind that made it feel close to zero today. Where the snow has receded near the house I can see daffodils poking up. Last week we planted seeds, and they are sprouting in our inside window box. |
