[DSL] New FTTN modems to replace sagemcom duds?

Hey all,

I see there are some new SmartRG modems from TekSavvy. Are these going to let us Stringer folk get off the interleaved profile and onto fast path for 25/10 DSL?

I'm still renting my SageMcom and am an interleaved profile.

I read a few posts about the SmartRG firmware being updated -- is this going to be automatic like the SageMcom, or am I on the hook to check and update my firmware once if I get one of these?

I only check this board about once a year, so I'm not really in the know with all the latest.

thanks

Hello Mjfrazer,

The SmartRG 505 modems are compatible with Stingers. And yes you will be able to get off the interleaved profile.

If you do want to purchase the SmartRG modem, we will arrange to send you a return label for the Sagemcom & we will remove the Rental fee you are paying monthly.

We will send you the latest firmware & config file already on the SmartRG. Although there has been reports of some bugs, we are working to getting these resolved.

Regards,
Martin

As a stinger user with a SmartRG modem, I can confirm that they do remove the need for interleaved mode.

That's great news Martin. Thanks for the reply.

I will order one up when times are less busy, likely this summer.

Thanks for the continued great service!
