Piracy Hurts... Go On...

Its getting harder and harder to sell that "Piracy = Job Losses" argument isn't it Hollywood?

It's sure looking like Piracy isn't taking away from people spending on movies.

My theory is this:
A consumer will spend $X on entertainment regardless of how much or little Piracy is committed.
i.e. Go to 2 movies at the theater a month and buy 2-3 blu-rays a month, and pirate 2 movies a month.

Those 2 movies are not inside the budget. If they couldn't be gotten free they wouldn't have been consumed... PERIOD it's not a missed sale, this consumer has expended their movie budget there is no more money to be had.

This is the same Hollywood that claims that the Lord of the Rings movie wasn't profitable. If anyone can find a way to equate more profits with financial ruin, it's Hollywood!

Gotta love their fuzzy accounting where every movie and TV franchise is a money loss even though they make huge profits. The government should be fighting shady accounting before piracy, Shady accounting has denied more people they due compensation in this industry than piracy.
