I fold a 680 and 660ti -- unfortunately that's under Windows 7.

There is a Folding Forum thread from November on the nVidia Linux drivers here:
»foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?n···&t=25203

Don't know if that may offer any insights.

I fold with my GPU and my CPU. I can't get my laptop to do 2 GPU's.

I will try and bring mine back up again over the weekend. Might be the model I have.

I ran it on a GTS 450 for a few months and got tired of having to pause the WU because of the slow video. The 450 just can't seem to do two things at once.

Yes, GTX 465 here. Mouse/keyboard just freeze occasionally. I suppose it could also be the video driver.

This is the only non-custom built computer I have owned since 1992. It's a Dell. A customer builder would have worked with me to help F@H. Dell would not be interested, I'm sure. :/

I would like to upgrade the card to see if that might help, but I'm not sure which ones would be ok in this Dell or which might require a PSU upgrade as well. I hate hardware, but I hate proprietary hardware on another level.

I put together a GTX550ti Ubuntu system today. Seems responsive enough, with q9400 cpu, 2 gb memory. Not quite the same as the 780's.

What size PSU would you guys think is needed for a 780 or 780 ti?

Would it be ok without more than normal case or card cooling?

Back up and crunching again on CPU and GPU. Glad to see I am now getting WU's on my Nvidia GTX460.

I used a Corsair 750 watt PSU for the 780's, normal case cooling should work. Ideally, front and back of case fans, in addition to 120mm PSU fan as the GPU does throw a fair bit of heat.

Thanks, I haven't found anything in the documentation to say what wattage this PSU has.

By the time I am finished with it, it won't be the same boxen. Original HDD was replaced with three faster ones and now I'm thinking the GPU needs to be replaced, too. So it is likely the PSU gets swapped out as well.

I wonder if this GTX 645 GPU would work in the 2007 Windows 7 box. Hmmmmm ...

The GTX 645 will work under Windows 7.

If you're shopping for a new GPU the nVidia 780s rock. If you look online you might also find a good deal on AMD 7970s as they are being phased out...but they are very very fast folders. Very fast.

I knew GTX 645 would work under Windows 7. I was just concerned about whether the newer cards might not work on the PCI-E slots in the older motherboard. Sorry for my misleading comment.

ASUS P5K Deluxe Motherboard
- Two PCI Express x16 slots

I see references to versions 1, 2 and 3 PCI Express video cards and don't know which would be compatible with the older motherboard's slots.

The short answer: It should work fine, with current drivers, on the Asus P5K

Thank you. That may be why I couldn't find my answer. The question was irrelevant.

Hi parkut,

There was a shortage of core17 WU during the time frame of this post along with a few GPU server assignment issues. Only core 17 WU's will work on NVidia cards under Linux.

But looking at your recent doubling ++ of points, it looks like you have it figured out!
