this game is frustrating especially for a noob.
1. Stand close to the fire at night to increase your sanity
2. Don't sleep on a hay roll unless you have excess food
3. Food goes off; it starts green, and turns color
4. Edible things in the inventory are green
5. As a priority from the start try to get a gold chunk so you can make the science machine, gold chunks are in rocks with gold streaks or sometimes lying around
6. Turkeys come out of berry bushes sometimes, to kill them, drop the berries and wait till they make a bee-line, then kill them. Don't let them reach or eat the berries
7. Plant pine cones unless you want the forest to enact revenge
8. Make a shovel and replant berry bushes together near your home and manure each About 15 is sufficient for four or five berry crops a day
9. Put traps over holes then you don't have to bait them
10. Pay attention to what each food does to sanity hunger and hit points as you eat it
11. Hounds are the first attack they come at day 7 or so
12. Wear a log suit to attack spiders, but not the big nests at first, only the smaller nest
13. It is more productive to chop a large tree than a small one
14. Paths make you walk faster
15. Mandrakes are like extra lives if you cook them and eat them when necessary
16. The alter is like a checkpoint, sort of
17. If you camp near them, don't let pigs eat monster meat
18. Don't cook things with full inventory they drop to the ground then can burn
I think these are sufficient tips to get you to winter. Then the game changes
