[Modem/Router] SMCD3GN-RRRok, here's an odd situation
have this old router hooked up to an i7-920 with win xp sp3 32bit , ethernet cable plugged directly into the router ,
but download speed is * HALF * that of an ipad4 connected to the same router via wi-fi
used the site testmy.net , ran tests 3 times each for ipad and pc at different times
--- *pc result* --- Download :: 9.3 Mbps 1.2 MB/s ------ Upload :: 1.9 Mbps 241 kB/s
--- *ipad result* --- Download :: 18.3 Mbps 2.3 MB/s ----- Upload :: 1.9 Mbps 234 kB/s
//////////
any idea on what could be causing this ? and how to fix it thanks |

Did you check in your network settings on your PC with XP that you have a 100Mbps or 1Gbps connection? I had a flaky LAN adapter on a motherboard that would only connect at 10 Mbps. |

Is your XP a legit "updated" copy. There's a lot of tutorials online that explain how XP was designed for a max bandwidth of 10mbps or so, windows had a patch come out for it. And users developed a tool and instructions on how to reconfigure XP for higher bandwidth. |
