this generally requires some sort of 'presence' app. things like jabber and webex connect do this. possible that 'ip communicator' will do it (but this is softphone). if you're talking click to dial to your phone -- there may not be many solutions without full nlown presence.

Thanks T. I have been fighting with IP Communicator video functions already. All the video functionality seems to have been rolled in to Jabber and I can't get it to play nicely on my laptop. But that's a whole other thread to come once I've finished battering my re-seller who so far has proved useless at VoIP despite the guy proudly claiming to be CCVP... *shrugs* |

Too bad we don't "vendor management" anymore -- thanks be for that, especially for my personal sanity level -- as I had a contact or two at this particular vendor that knew CUCM / Unified Communications inside and out and with the world spun 720deg from its axis. Question, who is the reseller / vendor anyways, if that doesn't break NDA? Regards |

Considering the CCVP was retired quite a bit ago and massive changes have taken place to the Cisco Collaboration platform, I can't say I'm shocked he's useless. I just finished my CCNP Voice and it's horribly out of date compared to the Cisco Collaboration offerings. It's a constant bum rush to keep up with the VoIP offerings from Cisco you have to want it. |

Click to Call works on UCM & UCMBE, not on CME like you are trying to do. |

Ok then. So what sits between CME and BE ranges? Is it UCM or is there another new acronym for the same product this week? Not that I'm bored with Cisco and their (re)naming conventions at all... And the pre-sales guys at my re-seller pointed me to this: » www.cisco.com/en/US/prod ··· 142.html |
|
|
Yeah that's not what you want. Take a look at this » www.cisco.com/en/US/prod ··· dex.html |

Yeah found that on my own after I looked at the link from my re-seller. Why do I want personal rather than advanced? If I need to pay for software I'm going to want all the bells and whistles. On the other hand I'd like to ask my re-seller why didn't make the same suggestion and be able to respond intelligently when he tries to b******t me 'cos I'm sure from his side it's more about the sale than the service... |

Thanks for the thought, but remember I'm in the UK... |

Hope this isn't late, but Cisco does offer a product that integrates with outlook and cme, including click to call. I don't know if you can still purchase it, but it is called Cisco Unified CallConnector. » www.cisco.com/c/en/us/pr ··· 143.htmlI have it running with a uc520 at home. For video, there is Cisco Unified Video Advantage: » www.cisco.com/c/en/us/pr ··· dex.htmlAlthough I know that video advantage is EOL/EOS. HTH |

See the posts on Jan 14 / 15 between rsaturns and I. Video Advantage is now seemingly rolled in to Jabber which again was mentioned earlier. I have not yet had a chance to try all the options listed as I have had some real work to do in the interim!!! I'll re-visit this when the question makes it's way to the top of my Inbox again. |
