Phone does not ring when receiving calls.

Hi.

I downloaded MagicJack from Google Play to my smartphone (LG – E410B).
I reestablish my account with MJ online which I previously canceled and received a new POTS tel number for $3.00 (choosing the last 4 digits).

My apt building has WIFI. When making calls, I must be in a certain area to get a clear signal.
No problem making free calls so far when signal is good.
But when I receive a call, I do not hear the phone ring or vibrate. Subsequently, I get an email message in my inbox a call was received.
The fact that I get an email, tells me the assigned MJ phone number was ported to my smartphone correctly.

I tested my phone using a free website that will ring your cellphone for free.
Entered the MJ number but did not hear the phone ring.

Any Ideas why my phone is not ringing.

Tom.

log in at my.magicjack.com
find the tab that includes "Voicemail On/Off/Delay".
Make the delay for your app 45 seconds or longer as needed.

Good luck!

Hi greenman.

Thanks for the reply. Here is what I did to test if my phone rings when I dialed.
- Increase the delay voicemail to 45 seconds %u2013 response (no ring)
- Turned off voice mai1 for MJ android %u2013 response (recorded message replied caller was not available).

When I look at my account I have the following:
Device status expiring: 2/23/2014
Number expires: 1/18/2015

When I start:
1. I turn on my android, set my WIFI on and start MJ.
2. MJ states configuring phone number
Then the screen shows:
My number free calls
Ready to Call

from this point I can dial anyone in the U.S w/o any diffculty.

But when I dial my MJ number from my Landline phone, it automatically goes to the voicemail.

Do I need to port this MJ number?

Do you see anything I am doing wrong before I call the help desk.

Since the number is valid throuh 1/18/2015, there doesn't seem to be any need to port a number.

Since your app and your number have not yet expired and you are able to make calls from the app, you should also have no trouble using the app to receive calls.

It is unfortunate that the app does not work on all android devices, though it should work on most 4.x devices. I know quite a number of users have had trouble with the android app.

Since voice mail does not seem to be the culprit, you may have to get in touch with magicJack chat support.

Good luck.

@Greenman.

I finally figured out why my smartphone did not ring.
I must go into the account option from my smartphone and select my new Tel number to sync.
I was previously going into account option from my laptop.

One quick question:
My new number expires 1/18/2015. Device status expires 2/23/2014.
Do I have to renew my device status on the 23rd of February?
Can I still dial/receive calls on my smartphone until 2015 if I do nothing with the device status?

Thanks very much for your help.
Tom.

If the app is set to autorenew with a valid credit card on magicJack it should take care of itself. You can also renew early if I'm not mistaken.
