After the last deep freeze, with ice 2 inches high on the sidewalk, I went out today and shovelled away the smear of snow in case it got compacted by pedestrians into a sheet of ice. |

A balmy -22, -29 with wind chill in Montreal.
Could be worse. I just dislike that it's going to be mostly sunny and no real snow anytime soon.
I miss those milder winters with lots of soft snow everywhere. It's all pavement and ice of late, unfortunately. |

Here is an image of the jet stream for today. » weather.gc.ca/jet_stream ··· x_e.htmlYears ago I emailed the web master to suggest they animate the last five days of images, or at least provide links to the last five images. No response. If you take the time to learn the meaning of the symbols the jet steam images are very informative as to overall weather trends. -Bob |

I was out at a call last night - it was freakin' personal!! Way cold out.
Forecast was windchill's in the -35 range, and I didn't enjoy it at all...
On the upside, we didn't get nearly as much snow as they were calling for. |

We're very lucky here on the peninsula because our wind is next to nil. It's cold out, but not so cold to cut straight through you like it does with a bit of wind. |

-Bob Try this: » www.weatherstreet.com/st ··· cast.htmI know it's a US site, but it shows the jet stream for north america and you can run your mouse over each day and see the change. Warning: may be hazardous if viewing while under the influence of pyschodelics. |

Coldest morning I've had in 8 years of living in Kingston that I can remember. The official temperature at 7am was -29C with windchill of -38C... sorry but that's north of 7 cold... not shores of Lake Ontario cold... I hear at -29C people in Niagara Falls cease to exist... » weather.gc.ca/trends_tab ··· c_e.html |

FaxCap Because some people understand that global warming is about averages, not outliers. |
