[Speed] Conyers, GA (Comcast called with the offer)

Conyers, Ga

Just got a call from Comcast about upgrading my triple play package, with Blast, to 105/20. Said yes.
About 10 minutes later the modem rebooted. and I now have 105/20.
It is the "free" upgrade. My Blast has been upgraded to Extreme 105.

ShaperProbe:

Connected to server 64.9.225.166.

Estimating capacity:
Upstream: 20492 Kbps.
Downstream: 155105 Kbps.

The measurement will take up to 2.5 minutes. Please wait.

Checking for traffic shapers:

Upstream: No shaper detected.
Median received rate: 20085 Kbps.

Downstream: No shaper detected.
Median received rate: 119541 Kbps.

[Speed] Re: [Speed] Report Tiers "Doubling" In Speed Here

So, are you still on Blast? Did you get the upgrade free? Or is there an additional charge?

Please edit your post to clarify. We can't tell if it is the free upgrade or if they just talked you into upgrading your package and will be charging extra for it.

Thank you for updating. So, if it is now called Extreme 105, do you know if it is free only for a promotional period and then you'll have to pay more or go back?

CSR said it was upgrade for blast. I am going to be watching my bill to see what it states when new bill comes out.

If I understand correctly, Comcast reached out to YOU about upgrading your triple play, and not the other way around?

[Speed] Re: Atlanta, GA

Kevin_, from your post I can't tell if your upgrade is the one we are concerned with here, which would be a free upgrade from the Blast Tier to the speed you have now.

Did you have the Blast tier previous to this upgrade? Did Comcast indicate no additional charge for the new speed? Is this a limited time promotional upgrade or will it continue to be charged the Blast tier price?

Did you call Comcast or did Comcast call you with the offer?

[Speed] Re: Atlanta, GA

Sorry I should have been more clear. Yes it was a free upgrade from the blast speed which was 50/10. We were already paying $10 extra for the blast speeds anyway.

I was the one who called Comcast. The bill was a bit high and I wanted to negotiate a lower rate. They put us on the XF Preferred Double Play and offered to upgrade to Extreme 105 for free.

Thank you Kevin_ See Profile. Between your explanations here and the two visible posts from RadioDoc See Profile here, I finally see why Comcast needs to talk to the customer instead of just sending the new config file to the modem.

6) I called in and simply asked about it. I pay somewhere around 200/month for triple play, lady said that it hasn't gone live yet but she could push the code (I asked about the free speed upgrade advertised in the commercials.)

Make sure your router can handle it :P

This is what I believe is happening. Comcast is getting ready for this upgrade to go live. In the meantime, in those areas ready and waiting, it seems some customers are getting it early on request.

Quote from Tech Support Chat when I asked about the doubling of speeds being advertised. Specific question was what would the current Extreme tier become?

"Actually we are working on both "Extreme 205" as well as Extreme "305" . "Extreme 205" will have download speed around 205 mbps and upload up to 40 mbps, but for Extreme "305" there is no information as of now. "
