Re: About The Price

said by shrugs :

Just the owner replying to you here cost Ebox more than your 3$.

Not really, because you see a lot of people who joined eBox exacly because the CEO himself is so close to his customers and of all the transparency. He probably makes more money than he looses by coming on the forum here and answerin people. He can answer in ways that his "Social Media Ninjas" can't.

Re: About The Price

OP, the timing was bad for you, but that is not Ebox's fault.

Naturally for you it sucks to be increased so soon after signing up but the company existed before you came along. The increase was a business decision that had to take into account the entire not just four months but the four years behind them as well.

In this day and age I think it's great ISP found a way to close the gap of communication between consumer and company. Teksavvy and Ebox have been successful in part because of their transparency.

That transparency has also given the illusion to certain people that they know about running a telecom company or that they understand how it must be ran. Videotron has increased their service every year for the past... forever? Past forever sounds about right. If you take into account that VL or Bell services already offer poor value at their regular prices (if you have the courage to haggle it out with retention, and remember to call back every 6 months to renegotiate all the time, it can be competitive), the annual increases are all the more insulting coming from them.

Ebox is at the mercy of the CRTC when it comes to rates, they have to make due with what they're served.

hey guys, if prices of gold goes up 7% and transport of the gold makes the total price go up 15%, jewelers should suck it up and take the loss for years to come! right? Oh what if all the other jewelers raised their prices, well the one YOU buy from has no right to raise their prices anyways because you are king of the world

Electronicbox had quality service etc yes, but try to find a company that is as transparent as Electronicbox.

Maybe some people would have preferred if Ebox fired 24 employees to keep the same monthly price.

Obviously it sucks when you just sign up and have prices go up shortly after. If you didn't sign a contract, your price goes up.

I'm on DSL in Ontario, so I'm not affected, but I chose eBox because they offer a good price and quality service. When you sign up for "discount" service, you have to understand that the margins that the business is working with are smaller than what the incumbents are making. If prices go up, they don't have the margin to eat into the same way another company might.

As Diskace said, consumption is higher, so the money they are paying to Videotron is higher. When you're a smaller company operating on a smaller margin you simply can't eat increased costs the same way companies with greater margins can.

If someone else is cheaper or offers better value, then go with them. I would hazard a guess, but I'm sure that it's tough to beat the value that eBox offers.

Thank you for your post.
We understand the opinions of clients that have just signed up but our history has shown that our prices are very stable. We hope that our transparency may help clear any misunderstanding of this price increase.

When you think about it... The CRTC accepting a 7% increase does not make sense at all...

This is one of the reasons we are moving away from Videotron. Not because they raise their prices like clockwork, but rather the obnoxious letters they send telling us how amazing they are and we should be happy for the privilege to pay them more.
